Is theTruck totally destroyed??? Some sensors, are designed to deploy, by movement to complete stop, in a portion of a second. I've been in 2 bad wrecks with my Maxda Protege. I time "T" boned a car. When it got hit,& was dead stop, they deployed. Light poles, (aluminum for sure) & some concrete poles are regulated by the US Dept. of Transportation. They are called "break aways". Years ago, poles were mounted on 3 - 4 ft concrete bases. The impact to the base would crush the car, if not the pole would "smash" thru the top of the vehicle. If that truck is repairable, I would have to believe he hit a "breakaway" & the breakaway did its job
Testimonial: "Thank you I am thankful he is ok and hopefully you are right. "
I am thankful he is OK too. I've spent years on the raod as a "road serviceman". The wife & I travel alot. Kids & grandkids all over the nation. The more time on the road, the more the risk of accidents occur. In the 60's, 70's & 80's; I knew many that died in car wrecks, no so these days. It is these Dept. of Transportation regulations that have decreased these numbers. Very, Very glad your son is OK, sorry for your monetary loss on the vehicle. But, remember vehicles can be replaced, family members can't.

You have much to be thankful for and other things to worry about.
