My son just wrecked his 2011 Ford F150 at 60 mph hitting a telephone pole. He hit the pole so hard it broke the pole in half but the airbags did not deploy? What would cause this?

Is theTruck totally destroyed??? Some sensors, are designed to deploy, by movement to complete stop, in a portion of a second. I've been in 2 bad wrecks with my Maxda Protege. I time "T" boned a car. When it got hit,& was dead stop, they deployed. Light poles, (aluminum for sure) & some concrete poles are regulated by the US Dept. of Transportation. They are called "break aways". Years ago, poles were mounted on 3 - 4 ft concrete bases. The impact to the base would crush the car, if not the pole would "smash" thru the top of the vehicle. If that truck is repairable, I would have to believe he hit a "breakaway" & the breakaway did its job

Testimonial: "Thank you I am thankful he is ok and hopefully you are right. "

I am thankful he is OK too. I've spent years on the raod as a "road serviceman". The wife & I travel alot. Kids & grandkids all over the nation. The more time on the road, the more the risk of accidents occur. In the 60's, 70's & 80's; I knew many that died in car wrecks, no so these days. It is these Dept. of Transportation regulations that have decreased these numbers. Very, Very glad your son is OK, sorry for your monetary loss on the vehicle. But, remember vehicles can be replaced, family members can't.

Airbags have deployed. Car will not crank

What is the reason for the deployment of the airbags , did you hit the car or they open with no reason. If you hit the car there is fail safe mechanism to stop the engine automatically.

My son hit a curb and broke the right front axle what parts do i need to buy

Find a used right front axle from a wrecking yard. I can't think of any other parts that would be needed unless you for some reason can't pull out the old shaft and have to open the transmission.

Side note: The force required to break a front axle is not consistant with "hitting a curb". Something more sinister has happened to this car and a front-end inspection would be advisable.

Airbags deployed at 30mph during shaft broke

Since there was a sudden **** to the driveline then this caused a suden jolt in the frame which caused the impact sensor to think you were in a collision.

I hit a telephone pole at the front end drivers side of the car. Airbags deployed. I wana know my chances of it being fixable.

I like your question. The airbag system is repairable with one or two new or repaired air bags (possibly a new sensor if the one by the radiator got bashed). You can Google or Ebay suppliers online. The amount of repair the front end of the car needs is a tougher question. What did the insurance company say it would cost? Did they total it?
