If its leaking out the bypass hole,, you need to replace it before it goes totally out,, it can also be leaking along the bearing shaft, and also on the mounting ports, if thats the case, you may just need gaskets, or re tighten the pump,

2001 dodge neon leaking water from water pump i was driving n it felt like my car went into neutral n engine lite came on n it died it will turn over but won't start what do i check

well to me it seems like you have either a intake manifold leaking or head gasket leaking also which is causing coolant to go into motor.check the oil and see if it looks milky or overfull.

94 plymouth vouyager is starting to over heat when driving for more then 10 mins

This leaking on the passenger side sounds like possibly the water pump. I THINK that this is a cross-mounted engine, with the drive belt on the passenger side. If so, it is almost certainly the water pump leaking. Get a flashlight and a small inspection mirror and search around under the water pump drive pulley for signs of water dripping. If no water is found there, it probably is not the pump. Have you checked the cooling fans for proper operation? Tested the temperature sender that controls the cooling fan?

Having over heating problems with my 2000 taurus it does it most with def. or air cond. on full blast did find small leak at water pump where it bolts to block. replaced both cooling fansand, the thermostat...

No!!!!...Yes!!!
No, the sending unit is working right.
Ideas? Yes, I think the problem is the water pump. Don't drive it overheated till you get a new water pump or have it inspected. You say it's a small leak where it bolts to block, but maybe it's the "weep hole" on bottom of pump leaking, meaning the internal seals on the pump have failed. If so, it won't be a small leak, it will leak all the time engine is running. A lot may be swept away by air, or by evaporating. Check it out. That's a likely cause of overheating.

When it idles there is no heat but when I start to drive I get lots of heat

Make sure your engine coolant reservoir Is full. If it is low, When the engine is Idling there is not enough water pump force to push coolant up to the heater core. if the reservoir is low check car for coolant leaks.

My 99 alero v6 is over heating not leaking ight mite be hoses or thermostat . or head gasket but when it overb heats the smoke comes from the top of the engine

REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.IF CAR OVER HEATING WHILE IN MOTION.MORE LIKELY ITS THE THERMOSTAT,LOW COOLANT IN RADIATOR OR COOLANT SYSTEM,BAD WATER PUMP,WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IS LEAKING, WATER PUMP NEEDS REPLACING.CHECK ENGINE OIL,IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE LEAKING HEAD GASKET.IF CAR IN PARK AND OVER HEATS WHILE IN A LONG TRAFFIC LINE OR.BANK DRIVE THROUGH COOLANT FAN NOT TURNING ON, BECAUSE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY.CODE SCAN CAR FOR FAULTY COOLANT FAN RELAY OR FAULTY PCM. CHECK COOLANT FAN FUSE, AND HOT WIRE THE COOLANT FAN TO MAKE SURE ITS WORKING.IF COOLANT FAN DONT WORK WHEN HOT WIRED. COOLANT FAN NEEDS REPLACING. REPLACE BOTH RADIATOR HOSES, REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.BUY NEW COOLANT ADD 50/50 WATER AND COOLANT.IF ENGINE OIL HAS ANTIFREEZE IN IT.REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER TO KEEP FROM LOCKING UP THE ENGINE.GET CAR FIX.DONT KEEP DRIVING IF IT KEEP OVER HEATING,ENGINE DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.I HOPE INFORMATION I GAVE YOU WILL FIX PROBLEM.PROBLEM COULD BE LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES BUT CHANGE THERMOSTAT THATS FIRST THING I WOULD CHANGE BECAUSE IF IT CLOSED, ENGINE WILL OVER HEAT AND CRACK CYLINDER HEAD OR CRACK PISTON, COOLANT NEED TO CIRCULATE THROUGH THE ENGINE TO TAKE AWAY THE HEAT FROM ENGINE.

Overheating / Stem from water / coolent reservor

that did not sound like any fun. most likely your water pump has failed on you. you will want to replace both timing belt and rollers and tensioner. they most likely will have been soaked by coolant also the want to look at the coolant flange on the drivers side of the engine block. if it is leaking or not the burning smell is probably the oil leaking onto the exhuast manifold from a leaking v/c cover gasket.hope it helps good luck.

I need to change the water pump. also if the water pump is leaking will this stop the engine from starting

no, leaking water pump just means it is time to replace your pump. Not continue driving until you get around to it. replace it now. If it is not starting something esle is wrong. Unless you've over-heated the engine.

My 1998 Mazda Millenia overheated. It seems to be leaking water from the front of the engine to the left. Is this the water pump? If so how do i remove it? Linda Lou

Yes it is probably the water pump which sets above the fly wheel and towards the front of the engine....it is against the passenger side wheel well at the "front" of the engine (front wheel drive engines sit like this) where your belts are. Replacing it is pretty complicated, depending on your skill level. The fact that the engine sits sideways and there isn't a lot of room to work on it makes it more difficult. You can find a diagram of it by going to autozone.com and putting the year, make and model in; go to the cooling and heating icon and click on water pump. They usually have diagrams that show the location.moz-screenshot.png

I have water leaking from the engine, but don't know where from. The radiator has been changed the water tested for emmissions, pressure tested and still water is leaking. The heating blows hot when...

if you see the water leaking form the front side of the engine usually from the water pump since the pump is not running you also wont get heat, bit when you pressurise the sys you are forcing the hot water into the core and you have heat, it is the water pump.
