I would like to know how to remove and replace a door lock on the drivers side. It seems someone jammed a screwdriver into the key and ruined the lock. I pulled the inner door panel and then partially removed the next cover on the door but could not access the door lock. How does one get there.
Thanks for the help,
Bill Small
Brother Bill, you're on a roll. Finish removing the seal that's behind the door panel, with the window up, look back at the door lock and see the end of the push on clip that holds the lock cylinder in place. Stick a screwdriver between the lock cylinder and the flange of the clip and pop it off. It may be stiff enough you'll need get hold of the edges of the flange and pull it off with pliers. Pop the lock out and stick the new one in making sure the mechanism is on the lock tab. No problem Friend.
You are well on your way to fixing this.
I hope you will be successful.
You may very well have to remove the whole window assembly from the door to get to the lock.
I have had to.
Remember just exactly how you did it, in what sequence, so you can put it back together.
It took me many, many hours to fix this.
Be thankful the person who jammed the screwdriver did not steal your truck, as that was the intention.
God bless your efforts.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door
