1999 1500 ls abs and brake light on at same time then off just sometime

Could it be a broken abs speed sensor wire to one of the wheels . And for the hand brake sometimes on vehicles with the handbrake between the seats some junk will get in between the brake lever and the down position causing the light to intermittently go on or could be a switch or wire thing again .

first check brake fluid level then you will have to test the wheel speed sensors that the codes refer to. when there is a sensor problem it will activate both the abs and traction control lights. the red brake light comes on when there is low fluid condition(leak),worn brakes that need servicing. also if there is a abs module problem it can set codes. you need to know what the codes mean this is a starting place to diagnoise.

if abs light is on it means your abs system is not working properly due to disconnection of sensor of any wheel or problem with abs module but it dosn't mean that your brake will not work it will work but it will work like non abs brake , car wheel can get lock while sudden braking, don't worry but drive carefully, thanks.

Just forget about it. I have a 2005 and this has been ahppening for years.Technicians (GM and otherwise) have given up trying to find it and it just costs me every time I try.
Best advice I got was this:
"If the ABS light is on when you apply your brakes, you have regular non-ABS brakes.
If you apply your brakes and the light isn't on, you have ABS...........I dorve for years without ABS so I understand how it works both ways. Complained, wrote letters, nothing worked so I just suggest you save the aggravation and live with it. And be careful when driving it slippery situations. Or if that isn't satisfactory, sell it and buy something else that isn't a GM.
P.S. I also own a Nissan and would suggest you try them for a relialble vehicle......

if your abs light is on then there is a prooblem with the system, on your lincoln it is most likely a wheel sensor and not the abs box, go to your local auto zone and they will pull the code for free and tell u what is wrong with the system

it might be a loose abs cable behind one of the brakes?

ABS and traction control really are only for panic stops and if your tires slip on wet surface's and yes each tire has a sensor on it. However if the brake light comes on this has nothing to do with the ABS or traction control lights. It's not a parking brake light. This light tells you, you have a serious brake problem.
