This is caused by either a plugged drain line in your heater system. When the A/C is running, condensate is produced and it drains out the bottom of the car. You can see water puddles under cars that are running in the hot summer, that is what it is from. Check the drain by blowing air up thru the hole under the car. OR it can be caused by a plugged drain located under the battery in the engine bay. This hole plugs with leaves and overflows into the car and floods the under carpet area where the TCU is located. If you remove your battery to unplug this drain, remember to have your radio code or you will be in safe mode and it will not work.

I have a read screen on my 2001 Jaguar S- Type that says " Fail Safe Engine Mode. What does it mean

Hi, fail safe engine mode means that the ECM (Electronic control module) or computer box as some know it, is running in a mode whereby it is bypassing a particular component in the engine that has gone faulty in order to keep the car from cutting out, or has picked up an erratic function in any component, which is more than likely an electrical problem and could be one of the following which have to be checked by computer analysis equipment at the Jaguar agents or any one else that is familiar with the process that is required to trace the fault. Here are the possible causes: 1.Erratic wire connection 2, Engine cooling Fan thermal switch. 3. Control module 4. CKP sensor 5. Computer box not functioning correctly (a rare fault) 6.Engine coolant fan not working, or running erratically. Unfortunately only a computer analyis will depict the location of the fault and if the repair man is very experienced will be able to sort it out quickly with the computer analysis.( Although I strongly suspect it to be the cooling fan thermal switch which is working erratically and will soon fail completely.)
So get your car to the experts as soon as possible especially if it could be the cooling fan thermal switch, which could cost you a major expensive engine repair job if your Jaguar overheats.
Have a good day.

[email protected] on light comes on then the a small wrench icon appears. The message along with check engine now says engine in safe mode. The car loses all pick up. whats the problem

safe mode means the computer is protecting the engine by shutting down some operations - like half the cylinders.

go to autozone & have codes read (DTC) free.

1995 Monte Carlo 3.1L Temp gauge does not move, Service Engine Soon light is on but fails to give codes, and fans constantly run when engine is on.

Sounds like you have a bad temp sensor and the computer is going into fail-safe mode causing the SES light to come on and the fans to run, if you have a scan tool check and see what the coolant temp reads.

One or more of about 500 different things. The vehicle needs to get scanned for a proper diagnosis.

Oil pressure warning light on my audi a4 2005

The car has entered into fail safe mode. It wil not allow the engine to rev high but allows you only to get to a mechanic or to get some oil into the engine. What's the level like? Is there any trace of leakeage?
