Just got a 2011 equinox and there is a light sensor in the middle of of the top of the dash just under the windshield. Now that it is dark, noticed that it blinks. Is this supposed to be like that? know the 2010 does not stay blinking. Or, is it something that was accidentally hit when we were checking lights, etc?

Basically it's a automatic feature, there is a sun sensor on top in the center of the dash, once that detects enough light and your headlights are off the computer will turn on the daytime lights. You can trick the sensor with a bright (LED) flashlight if you need to test them.. Put the light against the windshield facing the sensor with the car running and after 45-50 sec. The daytime lights will kick on.. Note the daytime bulbs are not the same bulbs used with your headlights on..

check to see if security system is working (activeated) ,look at fuses

Check first light bulb,check the sensor is in dash board at front windshield may be dirt on the top or fell in.check fuse.

i took the whole dash apart once to change my radio. some of the wires inside the dash are either for the emergency lights, air bag or temp sensor. that small hump on the top of the dash near the windshield is a sensor.

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) will come on any time you start your car.
The dash lights do not come on, unless your headlights turn on. Either by a daylight sensor or if you manually turn them on by the switch.
So even though your headlights are on with the DRL, if you notice the tail lights do not come on (just like the dash lights don't).

To test if your dash lights do work, turn your headlight switch on. You should the the tail lights and dash lights come on.
