P1870 is a transmission fault code having to do with the valve body, probably not a DYI job. P0113 is a IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor circuit problem, could be a bad sensor or just a poor connection.

no it will not. All codes are OBD2 and are available on line free. Check them out. If anyone who diagnostics cannot tell you what it means have wasted your time as well as theirs. You may have to car in for repair. Next time take to autozone for scan, it is free and they will print you a list of possible problems and the parts related to the problem.

P1870 generally means that the transmission is slipping. P0420 relates to an issue with a vehicles catalytic converter. To know specifically what each code is, as it relates to your vehicle, you should take it to a local auto-part store (like AutoZone and have them pull the codes off of your vehicle. if you purchase a cheap obd2 scanner from *Bay or *mazon these codes can be cleared with the unit, as for what they mean just search 1999 mercury sable p0113 p1451 & the answers will be there on google
P0113 indicates the IAT Intake Temperature Sensor has a problem.
P0303 indicates a misfire on cylinder 3
I believe the IAT is built into the MAF sensor located in the air snorkle and helps regulate the air/fuel mixture. Also concentrate on cylinder 3 looking for problems such as injector, wiring, etc.

A code that indicates a problem with your tranmission. Ususally causes a hard shift from 1st to second gear. Need to have a transmission expert look at the vehicle. Most cases the torque converter is the main problem. But, sometimes the transmission may need rebuilt if damage has occurred.
I just came from an Autozone, and then spoke with 2 Hyundai dealership service departments and they all three stated the P0113 code is the Intake Air Temperature sensor (IAT, also referred to as the Mass Air Pressure - MAP - sensor) on the engine, not an O2 sensor found in the exhaust system.
