Is the compressor actually running. Try running it in the ON position instead of AUTO. You can raise the hood and look at the compressor where the belt goes around the pulley. Is the belt broken or loose? The center part turns when the compressor is working. If the center part of the pulley is turning then the compressor is working and more than likely you have a leak and have lost refrigerant. The leak will need to be repaired and the system recharged by a professional. If the compressor is not turning then check the fuse for the A/C and check the connection at the compressor. Disconnect it and look for burnt wiring. Reconnect it and see if that helps. There is also a pressure switch that may be defective. But unless you are skilled you should seek professional help if you find the fuse is good and everything else looks ok.
The temp is controlled by a flap called an air door. It could be an electric motor/actuator, a vacuum control or a manual cable but the door is likely not closing all the way and allowing air to pass through the heater core.
----------
There are few possibilities needs to be checked.------
The Freon, is the Freon low.Get the AC pressure tested. The low pressure switch towards the Accumulator, should show 35 to 45 lbs and high pressure switch should show Approx 80 to 100 lbs,-------
But if freon level is fine then get the Hvac module inspected. Its module problem ,
This is the module in the dash board that has all of the A/C control knobs and buttons in it. It is very easy to remove; only 4 screws have to come out first. This module fails or shorts and cause this problem.------
But first check the freon level, if its low then its low freon problem.Get the pressure tested, if no pressure showing then by pass low pressure switch via jumper and see if compressor runs.If yes then replace the low pressure switch. But if all checked ok, then its HVAC module.---------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Look at heater hoses on way to firewall under hood. The cooling system ones, one may have a heater control to shut off hot coolant when A/C is requested.----------
ALSO check is the compressor running, when you go for cool mode.IF compressor is not running, then AC clutch has to be inspected. If compressor is running, but still not cold, then its low Freon, and refrigerant needs to be recharged.--------
Getting this possibilities checked will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My AC simply stopped blowing COLD air. Even when I put the VENT button in ON position to get outside air; it blows HEAT even though outside air is COOL or COMFORTABLE. There is no problem in HEAT mode. The problem is not been able to get COLD/COOL AIR.
