1986 350 engine changed timing chain won't start on #1 but starts and runs great if i set roder facing #6 dist cap is there two firing orders for this engine ?

THERE IS ONLY ONE FIRING ORDER FOR THIS IT HAS BEEN THE SAME SINCE 1960??? 18436572 WITH NO1 IF YOU ARE STANDING STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENGINE YOUR HEI DIST SHOULD HAVE 2 PRONGS STRAIGHT ACCROSS FACING YOU IF IT IS NOT YOU MUST PULL THE DIST, ROTATE THE ENGINE AROUND TO COMPRESSION STROKE, VERIFY THIS BY THE POINTER ON THE TIMING COVER SET IT TO 0 WITH THE PISTON IN NO1 CYLINDER UP IF NO 1 PISTON IS NOT UP FULLY EXTENDED IN THE SPARK PLUG HOLE YOU ARE NOT AT NO 1
IF THE PISTON IS FULLY EXTENDED AND YOU HEARD A AIR SOUND THEN YOU ARE RIGHT, PLACE THE DIST BACK IN TURN THE ROTOR 1 TO 2 NOTCHES BACK TO THE RIGHT AND HAVE SOME ONE CRANK THE ENGINE IN SPURTS, IT SHOULD DROP IN, THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS TO VERIFY YOU ARE ACTUALLY ON NO1 THEN BEGIN THE WIRING

Truck wont crank. we have put new distributor cap, rotor button, coil pack, plugs, wires, and fuel pump. we also checked our firing order.

you said you repl dist cap that means you don't have a crank sensor you have electronic ing module. remove your elec ing module have it tested most auto parts stores could test your module, or check your coil at the neg terminal. should have power. if not you lost your primary volt from your batt.your secondary power is coming from your electronic ing module from the module to the pos terminal on the coil, when the eng cranks, from the coil to the dist cap , from the dist cap center to the rotor then out to the plugs, this all happen pervided the timing belt or timing chain is ok. the cumbustion chainber needs 3 things , thats fuel, air, and spark.

Need help

You can do this on a temporary basis, but you need to find the wire. Try running from the ignition switch run side to the dist. at least you can turn it off.
