1969 ford mustang mach 1 brake / stop light switch challenge

Recently I installed a new light and brake / stop light switchs on my 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and yet, I still have no brake lights working.

Although, all other lights ( turn signal, emergency, head- light are working) and I have only one wire at the brake / stop light switch that as power.

Thus, any idea why is my brake light are not working?

Thks

I installed a new turn signal switch in the steering column, and it fixed my brake light problem. Evidentally the turn signal and brake light wires use the same plug wires. It cost about $70. I would suggest doing this.

I have a 69 mustang and I had the exact same problem. All the lights work but when I go to put th shifter in reverse, no lights. I have a three speed and coming down on from the fuse box is your wire which when you ground it, your lights turn on. I fabricated a piece which when I put it in reverse, the ground wire would touch the linage thus giving me back up lights. This worked for me..

Most tail light problems are a result of a bad ground......somewhere.

I put a painless wiring on my 65 mustang. I have turn signals and tail lights but I blow fuses on the brake lights.

Does the fuse blow before or after you step on the brake? If it blows only after you step on the brake, and voltage from stop lamp switch only goes to rear brakes and not through multifunction switch. If only one connector at the rear for brake lamps, take connector loose, step on the brake, if the fuse still blows, the problem is before the connector. You could Use new wire from brake switch feed, when brake switch is activated, to the rear brakes. Leave pigtail at both ends, splice in new wire, You could let new wire just lay on the ground, for testing, from brake switch to rear brakes. If the brakes work and doesn't blow the fuse, Make the new wire permanent and route the wire properly. Just my opinion. I don't have wiring diagram for your model year.

What is the ratio of the rear axle of ford mustang mach 1 of the year 1969

There were many different options for the gears. There should be a tag on one of the rearend bolts

Brake lights on my 2000 Ford mustang won't work and fuses are fine and already replaced stop light switch. I'm stumped.

Does your high mount brake light work, if so then the multi function switch may be the problem. The brake lights work through it.

Mustang wiring diagrams

First check the light switch and brake switch. Under driver side is the rear light harness. Go to advance auto get a HAYES REPAIR MANUAL for mustang for that year I think they are all the same.

2004 ford mustang mach 1 brake lights dont work dont have manual to change the fuse

I don't believe there is a separate fuse for the high-mount brake light. Never was on older cars, that brake light is just spliced into the rear brake lights. Have you checked the bulb?

Brake lights stopped working 1998 mustang

Fuse panel is under the dash also as I have found with my own graceful daughter, there is a brake light switch that connects to the brake pedal itself. It is hard to get to and even harder to see but a lot of times these switches get bumped and they can not make connection when the brake pedal is depressed. Hope this helps

The stop light switch keeps going out on my 1998 ford mustang. Is there a known root problem for this? I have had to replace it four times in the past 4 years, the most recently being 1 month ago, and now...

Make sure switch is installed properly and it has the proper bushing in it. make sure the hole on the hydroboost push rod isn't damaged and crushing switch internals when braking. hope this helps

Mustang brake lights dont work

this car has a brake light switch on the pedal check for power in and out. if in and not out change switch. also I believe their is a relay under the hood . then check to see if the multifunction and hazard switch control brake lights i cant remember if they do like gm's but i am also almost sure they do the multifunction is your turn signal wiper arm that goes into steering wheel . after you check the brake switch and relay have some one jiggle the hazard and multi while pressing the brakes see if they come on. you can call ford and ask them about the multi and hazard .

2004 mustang wont shift

I'm not that familiar with this model, but it sounds like either a brake light fuse or the brake pedal switch could be the problem.
