Murano Fuel Sensor

I am experiencing problems with the gas guage on my 2006 Murano. When the tank is below half full the guage reads as empty. When I took it to the Nissan dealer they quoted $700 to fix the issue. The majority of the cost is parts, a fuel sensor and a fuel sensor guage. Both are the same price. Is it necessary to replace both part to solve the problem? Thanks.

Hello I also have a 2006 Murano, and the fuel light comes on, at times, and the computer says **** as the miles until the next fill up, even though I have only driven 100 miles. Then later, the fuel gauge goes back up, the light goes off and the computer goes back to 285 miles until next fill up. Now the check engine light has come on for the past few days, went off yesterday and is back on today. HAs there been any recalls on this type of problem? jamesw56

I have the same problem with a 2006 Murano. The fuel light comes on, at times, and the computer says **** as the miles until the next fill up or if I turn the car on and off it changes. Now my check engine light has come on for the past few days, went off yesterday and is back on today. I"ve spoken with a few people who also have a murano and they had a similar problem. But it hasn't been recalled for this problem.

On my 2001 GMC jimmy sls, when the fuel guage gets near half full it drops to empty and lately when really full it reads empty until a few gallons are gone. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

you probably have a bad fuel level sensor in the fuel tank.you will have to remove the fuel tank to replace the sensor.the contacts on the sensor will break causing the fuel gauge to be inacurate.you can buy the sensor without having to buy the whole fuel pump assembly.

Just filled the gas tank in my 2006 f-350 turbo diesel super duty (6.0), started the truck and the guage showed a full tank. Drove down the road about 1/10 of a mile and the guage dropped to dead empty...

A loose connection on the sending unit could cause the problem but also moisture in the tank in cold weather could also be a factor in which i would add fuel line antifreeze to a full tank of fuel..........Hope this helps you out.

Gas gauge is not reading correctly. Shows a full

the problem is caused by a defective gas gauge sending unit, this part is located inside the gas tank, you must remove the gas tank to replace it.

Gas guage not reading accurate

Your sending unit inside of the fuel tank is probably faulty. Unfortunately you have to drop the tank to change it.

Ajkill is right. I had the same problem with the fuel light always being on and the guage read empty no matter how much fuel is in the tank. I had to have the fuel level sensor in the tank replaced. This is something that they have to drop the tank for. It was about $400 with the part and labor at the dealership.
