Sounds like the intake gasket has rotted away. you will need to remove intake manifold to clean & replace gasket. be sure to check intake manifild for surface pitting. can be easily repaired using JB weld bond, then sanded smooth. thermostat should be replaced during this repair .also flush cooling system and replace coolant with correct type when done. (DEXCOOL is orange) DO NOT MIX COOLANT OF DIFFERENT COLOR!

look for a leak from the drain hole under the pump housing, if no leak not a water pump
take the car to a radiator specialist shop and have a coolant pressure test done to determine where the leak is
if it has plastic tanks for the radiator , they split with time and leak under pressure and a pressure test will reveal exactly where the leak is unlike a guess

I have a 2004 santa fe that the temperature suddenly starting climbing and steam was coming fromunder the hood but no water leaks could be seen anywhere and the heater stopped heating

Didn't see any leaks, because all the coolent has already leaked out. 100% sure if you let it cool down, fill it up with coolent and restart it, you will soon find your leak. (if you don't find the leak just by adding coolent) Im willing to bet its your lower or upper radiator hose.

I have a 1999 chevy cavalier and last night on the cold/hot gauge the needle was all the way over to the hot side. i arrived at my destination and the car was smoking. i looked under the hood and found the...

Lots of reasons the radiator fluid leaks - broken hose, hole on the radiator or blown water pump or head gasket being the main reasons. Fill it with water and turn the engine on - look under the hood to see if you can see where it's coming from.

If you ran it at hot for too long, you also run a risk of melting spark plugs, intake valves, and the engine will eventually completely seize up. Hopefully you don't need to wory about these added things, but if you find that the car won't run or runs poorly after you find/fix the coolant issue - these are likely the culprits. Good luck

My antifreeze is leaking out of my radiator .....HELP : (

adding antifreeze on its own can be bad for your motor.. it needs to be added with water.. does it leak from your radiator cap/ overflow hose or from the radiator core.. ckeck you thermostat as well. it stays closed when the water is cold and opens when it gets hot.. it sounds like it could be stuck shut..

Leaking Water Hose (not radiator hose)

it is the heater water supply and return, that supply water to the heater core to supply heat using hot water from the engine, the hose clamp my be loose or the hose has a hole in it you have to trace it from unner the hood fire wall to where it connects to the heater under the dash
