It is possible the tubes are leaking at the bottom but highly unlikely. There is next to 0 oil pressure in that area so the tubes would actually drain if leaking. I would start with the tube seals and gaskets as you have already planned and check it again later down the road like at the next oil change interval. You're on the right track for the repair, just be patient with the intake plenum and you'll do fine.

Try fuel cleaner/octane booster additive in full tank of 96 octane fuel. Give it a blast on a long trip.
Nice car enjoy it.

Hmmmm...are you sure when you changed the timing belt that all the timing marks were ligned up correctly?
Did you check to make sure you had no damaged valves?

Hi
Sounds like you might have an ignition system, timing or fuel system problem. I have a 91 Buick Park Avenue. It's been having the same problem. (Only mine completely dies and wont' start until allowed to cool, fortunately I know what's wrong with mine, I have defective ignition system parts, I'll have to take back for warranty replacement) The engine probably cuts out when it reaches full operating temperature right? You can't start it until it cools off for a few minute? Or it resumes after a few seconds?
If you are not sure how to elimanate the problem, you might want to have a professional mechanic run a diagnostic test on it. If your getting a "service engine", obtain the trouble codes with a code reader and call your mechanic.
Otherwise if your a skilled do it yourselfer. First check your distributor cap (or ignition coil pack if your ignition system is all electronic). If the inside metal contacts of the distributor cap are worn, it should be replaced.
You might also have a fuel system problem, clogged fuel filter, or the fuel pump might need checking.
Use some fuel injector cleaner, you might have a dirty fuel injector. Drive it about 50 miles with fuel cleaner in the tank, to see if this cleans the system out. If that fixes the problem, it's a good indication you probably need to change the fuel filter.
Also make sure the timing is properly adjusted for your specific type of car. Improperly adjusted timing is a big colporate for this kind of problem on Chrysler vehicles. Only use a timing light if you are experienced in how to manually adjust the timing on a car, and know the right timing adjustment for your vehicle.
Again after trying all of the above, if it still doesn't eliminate the problem, it's well worth the extra dollars to have it professional diagnosed by a mechanic, I suggest the Chrysler dealership in your area, for best service.
Highly unlikely, but have a mechanic check to make sure that the computer or ECM - engine control module is not bad just to be safe.
And last but not least, I recommend not using the air conditioner until this problem is eliminated, ease the load on the engine, and probably improve the performance somewhat and avoid any possibility of overheating or repeat episodes.

Hi, did you ever fix this problem? If so, what was it? I'm having the same exact problem with the same exact car and engine.
Thanks
