My 98 ford windstar keeps dying while im driving.I know it is an electrical problem.A lot of people keep thinking its my fuel pump but i don't think it is .I drive my car only to local areas just as long as i have spare fuses with me.The question i have is what would blow the fuse for the fuel pump?Because i think there is a wire that is touching another wire , that is not supposed to be touching.It has to be, but i don't know which wires it is, but it sure blows the fuse to the fuel pump.Any suggestions?

The fuel pump fuse blowing is an indication of the fuel pump wires may be shorted inside the tank. If you drop the tank and remove the module, you may find the insulation burned off some of the pump wires. Prob a good idea to take it in. If it is happening to your model, it may be a re occurring problem for that model and mechanics may have seen it before.

was it running before you replaced the alternator and battery or did it not run,and you thought that the battery and alternator was the cause of it not running. if a motor cranks and not start the battery and alternator are good. you need to check to see if the fuel pump is working and if you have spark
you don`t say if you know why it dies because the battery is dead or it stops while driving.check the fuel pressure with a gage.it could be a pump problem or fuel filter.are you loosing spark when it stops running.have you checked for spark.have you checked to see if there is a code in the ecm(computer) that need to be checked out.start with the above to know which way to start to find the problem
Sounds like an electrical problem to me since you lose power as well when it dies. I would check to make sure I have a good clean ground to the battery to the block.
