I have been trying to remove the drain plug on my dodge neon and have got it finger loose. Unfortunatley it wont get any looser. How do i take it off so i can drain my oil
It appears that the threads are stripped on the bolt or pan. To remove the bolt, try having a helper put a couple of screwdrivers (flat) between the bolt and pan, and while you turn the drain bolt to loosen, have them apply pressure downward on the bolt. If you have a carpenters flat pry bar, that would probably work even better to apply downward pressure to help remove the bolt. Next, you'll have to go to a parts store to get a drain plug that is made to replace one w/ bad threads. Let me know how you do. countrcurt0
Pull outward on the plug with a good pair of pliers while removing it.. (counter clockwise).
