My low oil light comes on while trying to crank my car and car stalls; will not start until I keep trying a couple of times. After it starts it runs fine and then shuts off after backfiring sometimes and wont start until a couple of mins.

Is the fuel injected or carburated?

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2011

    fuel injected

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2011

the problem started after I added dual pipes to the car. Cutting of the catalytic converters.

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2011

I have already replaced fuel pump, wires & plugs, fuel filter, and throttle position sensor.

I don't know which engine, but it may be variable valve timing (VVT) which is dependant on oil pressure which could cause backfire.check oil level, change oil and filter with correct oil. If possible put a mechanical guage with T to current sensor to test pressure when starting so you can watch how fast it comes up to pressure. a cheaper test, and ignore all the flames and negative comments, put in STP while hot, drive a while, then see how it does the next week.

Low oil pressure before the engine is running is normal. the starter does not turn it fast enough to build running pressure.
Crankshaft position sensor causes hard starting and backfire.

Why won't my car start?

Sounds like your oil pump may have seized. You'll need a gauge to verify this. The engine has a mechanism by which it automatically cut the engine off if there's a sudden drop in pressure. I would replace the pump. If you do make sure you prime it prior to tightening the oil pan down. A big question is why you were that low on oil. Good luck!

Stalling and not restarting when warm, crank sensors were changed and it made no difference

You might try and remove the anti theft system. If that doesn't work try to disconnect the battery until the system resets itself. BTW howdoes it run? Is it in good shape otherewise?

Legnum 1.8 4g93 turns over but wont stay started

open air cleaner lid and have someone spary a small shot of starting fluid at the same time someone is cranking engine over-if it trys to start you have a fuel problem if it doesn't could be a few other other issues but I would then check to see if you have spark coming from or to spark plugs.

I have a 200 ford expedition 5.4 liter and I can only check my oil level only if I have my truck and if its cut off my oil stick will not display any oil and the stick, only when its crank. I also have a...

02 sensors will not cause your vehicle to stall if they are bad enough to stall vehicle then your check engine light would be on. if the oil level only reads when vehicle running then ADD OIL ASAP. the level is very low. your dipstick checks level in pan once all oil drains back to pan with vehicle off. your oil is constantly flowing when vehicle running. that flow is splashing the oil up high enough that you are seeing it then. once truck is off all the oil drains down to pan and means level is so low not hitting the dipstick. If no reading when truck off you may need atleast 2 quarts of oil. Start by adding one quart to see if you get a reading. keep adding until you do. do not check immediately after shutting vehicle off. you have to give the oil time to drain back down to the pan. DO NOT KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE THAT LOW ON OIL YOU WILL BLOW YOUR ENGINE.

2008 Jeep Liberty Starter Issue

cant figure out your post at all !
"When my car will not start it only growls & never roars/never turns over."
it either cranks robustly nor not
then and only the can it start, run
cranks
starts
runs
or maybe stalls
the dealer can fix it , if you demo it and it works.
its not broken then.
if it cranks correctly every time ,say so
that is a failed engine start.
if engine stalls, say so.
if rpm on the engine is real low, too low, say so.

the word turns over means nothing, Im sorry
1/2 say, it means cranking
other 1/2 means its running,
the order is
cranks, starts, runs , and keeps running or stalls.
btw if it stalls, its needs a tuneup'
get one in last decade, (sparks filters)
my guess growls is starter sounds
so if it starter works try cranking with throttle wide open
this is super secret unflood mod. it cuts fuel and clears flooding.
Good engines that fail to start are
bad spark plugs
flooding
starving for fuel.
we discount them 1 by one until. bingo

My 2001 jeep started to run terrible, making horrible noises and I took it to the service station. They said there was no oil in it and the engine is shot. I had the oil changed a month ago and no warning...

That happens some times the switch has malfuntioned and or the fuse has blown on all of your warning lights. Have you seen oil on the ground or has it been smoking.

2000 Town and Country stalling & Check oil light coming on

Check the oil level. The low oil sensor will disable the ignition if more than a quart low. If you have not checked your oil in the last 1600 miles, its past time to do so. Check oil often.

Oil Pressure light comes on....

The oil light should come on when the car stalls, this is normal. The stalling isn't, do u have a warranty thru the dealer u purchased it from? Most have at least a 30 day warranty. A 2004 should have included some type of warranty. U should bring it back, and they should correct the problem at no charge if u recently purchased it, and there is some sort of guarantee. Let me know if there is.
