87 ford thunderbird fuel pump not coming on.does it have a shut off switch? it was acting like it had a bad pump.running for a while then quiting.then it got to where it would only run with the key in the start position. now it will not run at all. i put a new pump and filter.i even tried new pump relay.

I owned a 85 LTD II. Mine was inside the trunk near the passenger side trunk hinge, near the top of the trunk.

check your vacuum lines if one is off then it will do that too.

inside the door pillar , behind passenger door . sorry no picture . strange location but thats what the manual says . for 87 nissan 300zx . hope thats a fix ya !

If you hear the relay click, but no pressure at all then it would be the fuel pump needing replacement

it is located in the ccrm , a black box that has all the relays built into it

Car dies on right turns, will restart, will not stay running

one of two things come to my mind in hearing this , 1st damaged inertia pump switch (this switch shuts off fuel pump in case of high Inertia-wreck) 2nd the fuel pick up or baffles inside fuel tank have broken off this will require the removal of the tank for a look at it

Fuel pump keeps priming. wont shut off

Pump still runs because hasn't started and is in cold start mode. Get power to the coil to get it running first, then see if the pump shuts down when switch is off.

There is a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. It could be bad. To check this pull off the vacuum line and turn the ignition on without trying to start the car. If fuel comes out of the vacuum hose fitting the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Another possibility is a bad fuel pump. Check your fuel preasure. If low or non exisitant replace fuel pump only after checking fuel pressure regulator. Good luck.

Have you checked the EGR valve? The Backpressure Valve? The IAC (Idle Air Control Valve?) Those are the other parts in the motor besides the fuel pump that could be bad.
