Go to the following link and the first photo shows the belt routing. I hope this helps as I know changing the belts on these vehicles can be a major pain in the neck.

There really are a lot of steps to go through. But its all straight forward no special tools, though you may need an assistant, and you will have to remove the timing chain and mark everything. It would be best to get a workshop manual.

bushings in the gear selection linkage need replaced go to autohausaz.com or buymbparts.com for parts.

cold start relay either the fuse in the relay, or the relay itself.

Look on the back of the bottle of fluid you are looking to buy, if it does not say is is approved by MB, don't use it.

Base on the information gaven it seems that your forward clutch pack is worn,thats the reason you have seen that metal shaving in the transmission pan.So get your transmission repair.
