Sounds like you have a bad turn signal switch.

If the third brake light is working than we know the fuse is good and the switch is good. The third brake light bypasses the turn signal switch. If the rear turn signals are working than we also know that the wiring from the switch to the rear bulbs is also good. The brake lights and the turn signals are on the same bulb so the turn signal switch is what determines if the bulb gets power from the brake light switch or from the turn signal flasher. If the switch is bad usually the first thing that stops working is the brake lights.

Typically you can wiggle, jiggle, pull, push on the switch lever with you foot on the brake and get the brake lights to work. Sometimes turning the four way on and off several times will also get the brake lights to work. If this is the case than a new turn signal switch will solve you problem.

If you have any questions let me know!

SOURCE: 96 Chevy 4x4 Break lights don't work and fuse is good

Have you checked the brake light switch under the brake pedal? It may be out of alignment with the pedal lever or dislodged from it's connector. If it is still in the right position, check if pedal travel compresses the switch, if not adjust it so it does. If everything is in order and it still doesn't work, replace the switch. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

SOURCE: Tail break lights don't work. Window break light does work however. Bulbs have been replaced.

Check the brake light fuse. The high mounted brake light (third brake light) is on a different circuit than the brake lights. Hope this helps.

1997 lumina break light in back window works all park and signals work but no rear break lights is it a fuse

Did you check to see if the bulbs are any good? Is power reaching the bulbs? If not, why? Bad wire, bad fuse?

Until you find the problem assuming the bulbs are good, since the rear window brake light is good, you can always tap that hot line and run it to the hot of the bulb not working and now all will work.

Right and left brake lights not working...centre light is fine....bulbs look ok any other fault to check?

I would say it is your break switch. It is located under the dash and the break pedal actually hits it. It look chrome and it is a round cylinder. It has a button on it. When you press the pedal down, the button releases, therfore, it turns on your break lights. If the fuse is ok and the bulbs aer ok, this is your problem. Thank you very much for choosing FixYa. Good evening.

1989 chevy k1500 electric passenger window not working

I sounds like it might be a window switch that has gone bad ck the connector at the window motor by connecting a test light across the 2 wires operate both window switches the test light should light If it doesnt then connect the test light to a good ground and back prob the connector on either wire and operate the switch in both directions the test light should light In one position of the switch then ck the other wire the same way and the test light should light up with the switch in the other position (down up) wich ever wire the test light does not light up on needs to be cked for a break. The wires in the the door pass through (the rubber boot that goes from the door to the body ) can break pull the boot loose and pull the wiring out as far as possible to ck for broken wires.

Break lights work, blinkers work, no headlights

Go back and check the fuses with a meter or test light. The test light can be purchased at a autoparts store cheap. Use the owners manual or see if the fuse location is marked on the fuse box cover.

ALL BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING

Have you checked your brake light fuse? If it is good do your rear turn signals work? If you have turn signal and no brake lights it is probably the turn signal switch these are a common problem and your power for your brake lights goes through your turn signal switch. Sometimes it is actually the hazard switch that melts but this can not be serviced alone. If you have no rear turn signals and no break lights it could still be the turn signal switch but is more likely to be a wiring problem in the rear usually trailer wiring T connections. Chiltons has wiring diagrams in there manuals but they are not always accurate. Let me know if I can help you further and please rate.
