The downstream O2 sensor will be after the catalytic converter. The cat is typically near the engine in the exhaust. It will be much larger in diameter than the rest of the exhaust.

The downstream sensor will be AFTER the cat. It may be on the top of the exhaust pipe and hard to see. As a rule it is close to the convertor.

Year--make--model would be helpful?
Downstream 02 sensor is usually after the cat. The code number usually tells you which sensor, bank1--bank 2 and so on, where applicable.

2001 Dodge Stratus R/T o2 Sensor Locations

Yeah, you could do that. Bank 1 is always the engine side where the number 1 cylinder is located. Sensor 1 is the first sensor in the exhaust system, nearest the engine. Sensor 2 is always located farther downstream in the exhaust.

Where are the o2 sensors located on exaust

If you look in between the motor and the firewall you will see the upstream o2 sensor. If you crawl under the car and look behind the cat you will see the downstream O2 sensor.

How do I locate the o2 sensors on a 2001 Dakota w/ a 4.7 ltr Magnum & automatic trans?

O2 sensors are located right on the exhaust pipes. If it is an upstream sensor it is before the catalytic converter. There can be one on each side of the motor. If it is a downstream sensor it is located after the catalytic converter.
