He either added the trans fluid to the engine oil or he is checking the wrong dipstick. CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL to see that the trans fluid is not in the engine. If the engine oil is full of trans fluid, do NOT START the car and now you need to change the engine oil and also add the trans fluid to the trans. If engine opil is ok, be sure to find correct dip stick for trans fluid. They should be marked accordingly.
TRANS-FLUID,,is put in, the same place of the DIP-STICK-HOLDER, hard to believe but its true,
u need a skinny-FUNNEL TO match th size of the hole, a little-long, & pour a little @ time,
and keep checking w/ th dip-stick, make sure only up to the marks, dont over-fill,
GOOD-LUCK!!!
erase the trans code by disconnecting the battery for aminute . If the issue is still present after then your going to have to have it diagnosed. Most likely you have a trans solenoid issue.
this is most likely a transmission filter being dirty and it needs to be changed regularly as does the oil in your van. this is inside the transmission and needs to be serviced to complete this job i do not recommend you trying this by your self as you could damage your transmission.
You can have a shop diagnose the problem by checking for a computer code that should tell them about the conditon of the sensor or solenoid. You shouldn't have to start over with a new trans, but get referrals to a good shop first. Always check your fluid levels first, make sure they are what they should be and that the fluid looks good and red, not dark and dirty. Sometimes it's the easy stuff that gets overlooked.
