Camshaft position sensors 2002 i35 infiniti. sorry this may be a duplicate, but my 'check engine' light is on and the error codes are p0011 and P0021 which are bank one and two cam positio sensors. i guess i'll replace both even though only one is actually bad. i need to know where they're located and if this is something i should do myself or take to a mechanic. they want $350 for the entire job. i can get the sensors for 40 or so each depending on brand name and source. just need some advice and maybe a picture or diagram. You have random misfire codes as well as misfires detected on cylinders #2 and #4. P0011 is likely the root cause of the misfire being detected

DTC P0011 - "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)
A code P0011 refers to the VVT (variable valve timing) or VCT (variable camshaft timing) components and the car's PCM (powertrain control module, also called an ECM). That consists of a few different components but the P0011 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft.
Potential Symptoms

Most likely a DTC P0011 will result in one of the following: hard starting, poor idle, and/or stalling. There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates.
Causes

A DTC P0011 trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Incorrect camshaft timing
- Wiring problems (harness/wiring) in intake timing control valve control solenoid system
- Continuous oil flow to VCT piston chamber

DTC P0462 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low
This could happen happen you ran your fuel tank too low I would first fill up the tank and go to your local parts store and have them reset the code to see if it stays off .If the light comes back on the most likely reason is because the fuel level sensor needs to be replaced but other possible causes are wiring problems, fuel pump module, or cluster. You will need to barrow a special tool which is the lock wring wrench from your local parts store to remoe the fuel pump. OK check the CMP sensor connector for cleanliness, sometimes oil can get in and disrupt the signal transmission to the ECU. Check the wire loom continuity all the way back from the CMP to the ECU. If the error code persists remove the cam sensor, clean its tip of any debris and refit.

I would try to replace the Crankshaft or Camshaft sensors. Hope this helps.
