I assume this is the check engine light, it is a picture of an engine and it is yellow. If that is correct please read on, if not let me know.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon or small picture of an engine) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the electronic system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

I DID THAT ON 10-19-11 AT AUTOZONE, WHICH IS WHY I HAD THE OIL CHANGED TODAY 10-20-11, BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON, ALTHOUGH THEY SAID I WAS 4 QUARTS LOW IN OIL. WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE...PLEASE HELP I DONT KNOW WHETHER TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE OR NOT BUT IT DOES SOUND DIFFERENT WHEN I START IT UP. IT SOUNDS LOUDER LIKE A TRUCK OR SOMETHING. THANK YOU.

You have damaged the engine, the noise you hear is due to low oil pressure likely. This is not a yellow indicator light then? I would not drive it anymore until you have the noise checked.

If this is the change oil due light then it must be reset, that reset may not have been done by the shop that changed the oil. Any dealer will reset this light for free.

THE LIGHT IS A YELLOW PICTURE OF ENGINE AND IT RIDES VERY GOOD. ITS NOT TICKING OR ANYTHING. ITS LOUD WHEN YOU START THE CAR, BUT THATS IT. JUST STILL WONDERING WHY THE LIGHT IS ON. DO YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A DEALER OR ELSEWHERE. WILL THEY CHARGE ME TO TELL ME WHATS WRONG OR

The Yellow light is the Check engine lights. You should have the electronic control system tested as when ever this light is on a trouble code is stored in the computers memory. At this point it is better that the dealer do this test as it seems the Autozone you went to doesn't have a clue to the cause of the light. This is not a oil change light or any type of "service due" light.

Should you do a transmission flush on a chrysler 300

If you want it to last 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles yes and have it done every year if you can afford it. You wouldn't except your engine to last if you never changed the oil

I have a 2005 cysler 300C hemi 5.7. Ho do i find the crankshaft position sensor and How do I determine which cylinder is #1 and #7? I recently changed all coil 8 coil packs and 16 spark plugs. I have a...

Hello! See diagram below of the location of Crankshaft Positioning Sensor (CPS)...It has a 3 wire connector with the following wire colors...Dark Blue/Dark Green (ground)...Dark Blue/White (signal lead)...And Pink/Yellow (+5 volts)...

Looking at the front of the engine...The left bank (front to rear) are 2, 4, 6, 8...
The right bank (front to rear) are 1, 3, 5, 7...Therefore the first cylinder on the right bank is # 1...The rear or last cylinder on the right bank is #7

Oil can icon on the dashboard of chrysler 300 -what to do??

oil light indicates one of two things, Low oil pressure. or Low oil level. Check the level on the dipstick (consult owners manual), if it is low fill it to the "full" line with fresh oil of the correct grade. Also the oil on the disptick should look syrupy golden, not black and dirty - if the oil looks filthy then get it changed, old oil is thinner and results in lower pressure... if it is already at or near the FULL line then you have a more serious problem - low oil pressure is caused by a, faulty oil pump b, worn engine c, wrong grade of oil d, not enough oil e, contaminated oil Also a faulty oil pressure switch could bring the light on... so check this before you have the engine stripped!!!!!
An oil change will cost very little money and could solve the problem, if the light is still on with new oil then chave the oil pressure switch tested... if not the switch than it is a "real" engine problem and needs proper investigation.
IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE WITH THE OIL LIGHT ON Unless you know it is an electrical fault and not truly a low oil pressure condition bringing on the light.

CHECK OIL - fill if necesary - light hopefully goes off... STILL ON - have switch tested - switch is hopefully faulty - replace it... STILL ON - have engine checked out - it is losing pressure somewhere
