I need to know how to reset check engine light on my 2006 chevy equinox

The check light is on for a reason,you have a system fault

Removing the fuse is not a fix

Need a repair shop to diagnose

I have a 2006 Equinox and I had no dash light and no tail lights. The fix was a fuse located in the passenger fuse box. It's labeled 10A PARK.

I know of no such warning light on the 2006 Chevy Equinox that shows a wrench with an engine. The wrench with an oil can beside it means that there is scheduled maintenance required as listed in your owner's manual. You will see this when it it time to change the oil. The light that shows an engine is the Check Engine light and comes on when there is a problem with the emissions system. It requires that the ECU be scanned with a scan tool to retrieve the code that has been set. A trained professional will use this code to repair the problem.

Call around to your local parts stores and see if one will do a free scan. Scan you car and write down the codes that are pressent. Then clear the codes, this will reset the light. When the light comes back on see what codes return and then fix the problem and reset it again.

TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO RUN WITH THE ENGINE OFF.FULLY PRESS AND RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THREE TIMES WITH IN FIVE SECONDS.YOU HAVE TO DO THIS MORE THAN ONE TIME.ITS NOT GOING TO RESET FIRST TRY BUT DO THIS PROCEDURE.UNTIL THE CHANGE ENGINE OIL LIGHT WILL FLASH WHILE THE SYSTEM IS RESETTING.TURN THE KEY TO OFF.WAIT A FEW SECONDS.START CAR UP TO SEE IF CHANGE OIL LIGHT COME BACK ON.IF YES YOU HAVE TO TRY THE RESET PROCEDURE AGAIN.

Take + terminal off the battery and leave it sit for 2-3 mins. This act's like a reset-to default factory settings...I had same problem on my 97 Z28, endeded up being the negative terminal to the battery was just slighly loose. I noticed it while disconnecting the the battery to reset my ob-cpu...Try this and let me know if it worked... i should!

Start with the small stuff. Check the battery ends,look for corrosion,check battery voltage.

Hi to reset the oil life monitor
turn the key on engine off
push the gas pedal to the floor 3 TIMES WITH IN 5 SECONDS
the light will flash then go out

Turn the ignition to run. Within three seconds push the gas pedal to the floor three times. Turn the key to off, and then start the car. The light should flash three times signifying that it reset. If it does not, try repeating the process, but instead of turning it to off after stepping on the pedal, just start the car.
