Power brakes does not seem to be working as I have to push really hard on pedal to stop truck and pedal is close to floor. I can hear a vacum leak sound coming from brake pedal area when I push on pedal. Is my brake booster shot, or is there something I should be looking at.
Check 2 things first one is their is a plastic check valve that is inserted into the booster (under your hood) then goes to a vaccum line ,then to the engine, pull it out of the booster and check the valve it should be L - shaped. it might have a hole in it causing a vaccum leak. be carefull pulling it out not to break it just pull straight out. if that is ok put it back in. then your problem is going to be the brake booster the big black round case. sometimes the diaphram inside the booster rips causing a vaccum leak which causes a hard brake pedal and you have to stand on the pedal to stop. then you will have to repace the whole thing but not the master cylnder unbolt master cylder with the brake lines connected, the lines will give then disconnect brake pedal arm under dash inside of trk their should be 2 nuts or 4 buts under dash on inside of firewall near brake pedal then remove booster pulls out from under hood. there is not much to replacing them.

Do you feel the brake pedal go down when you hold you foot on the pedal while starting the truck ? Maybe the power booster is bad. The power brake booster is vacuum controlled in most cases an if you hold your foot on the brake pedal when starting you should feel the pedal go down if working correctly .
make sure the emergency brake is completely releasing , is the motor lugging or working really hard to make it move? does it feel like the brake is on, or that the motor just won't get up to speed to make it move smoothly
You need a helper, to slowly press the brake pedal down, as you open bleeder valve,then close before your helper gets near the floor.
Repeat until all air is out of each wheel position.
RR,LR,RF then LF. Always start from the farthest wheel and have motor running
Never pump brakes. That does nothing at all.
The rear brakes on the Spectra will always engage less than the front brakes. If you have to push hard on the brake pedal then you probably have air in the brake lines from the last brake pad replacement. The brakes need to be bled with this method: Use 1/8 inch 2 foot long hose from parts store and attach from bleeder valve ball on the brake caliper to a bottle partially filled with brake fluid. End of hose should be submerged in bottle. With second person holding brake pedal to floor, slowly turn bleeder valve counter clockwise (loosen tiny bit) with wrench and watch for dirty brake fluid to create bubbles in the bottle. When bubbles start, quickly tighten bleeder valve back to tight. Second person lifts foot while valve is tight and then pushes pedal to floor again and THEN you again open bleeder valve slowly turning counter clockwise and watch for bubbles. Repeat until no more bubbles can be created in the bottle where the hose is submerged. Move to next caliper and repeat. For a firm brake pedal you will need to repeat this on all four calipers. My 2003 Kia's rear brake pads "fell apart" and never wore out in 190000 miles because they do not get used. The braking power is primarily in the front disk brakes on this model. Removing and replacing the rear drum brake linings did not even require me to bleed the brake lines. They weren't that tight before or after the replacement procedure.
the brakes have to be bleed you wrote that when you start the car the pedal goes to the floor that means the booster is working fine take it back and tell them you want the brakes bleed
