I have a 1995 Toyota tacoma w/ the 2.4 L four cyl. It will not start just turns over. The fuel pump comes on relay clicks but it just turns over. Sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it sputtered. Any...

Check for a spark first, double check fuel pump is running and actually "hums" when you prime the motor. Check fuel filter, clogged fuel filter could be the culprit and explain why it sputterred with starter fluid but wont run without. Good luck.

Where is the fuel pump relay located on a 1996 Toyota Tacoma

Open the hood and look for the engine control fuse box. On the inside of lid it should tell you which one is the fuel pump relay.

Toyota Tacoma fuel problem

Check the following:
- Listen to the fuel pump noise under the fuel tank.
- Starter signal.
- EFI relay, under the hood fuse and relay box.
- Fuel pump operation and pressure.
- Regulating valve.
- Circuit Opening Relay (COR) under the dash.
- Check for open in harness and connector between circuit opening relay and fuel pump, and fuel pump and body ground

I have a 1995 tacoma and the fuel guage and fuel pump does not work. cannot find a fuse for them any suggestions

  • The fuel pump relay is a pain to find so when I tell you where it is keep looking in that area until you locate it because it is there.

  • Your fuel pump relay is located to the left of the steering column behind the top of the lower dash access panel. There is a metal tube of sorts wayyy back there and even if you take the lower panel off it is a pain to get to but it is back there.

  • You can also pull the fuel line off the backside of the fuel filter and see if gas is making it to fuel filter as well. Keep in mind that if the relay happens to be good that a bad fuel pump will also effect the fuel gauge.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have a 99 tacoma with no power to fuel pump, fuses are good, power to relay and have swapped relays, but I don't have any power to the fuel pump. Is there some type of inertia switch?

Look to see if you have power at pin 1 of the circuit opening relay. The C.O. Relay is what powers the fuel pump. If you have power there (a blue wire), you have an open circuit between the relay and the pump.

When do you change the fuel pump in a 1996 Toyota Tacoma?

change it when it fails...Or if pressure drop causes problems associated with imminent failure.

1999 toyota tacoma Sr5 won't start

Check for fuel pressure when starting. Fuel pumps have a check valve in them that keep fuel in the rail at the injectors. If the check valve fails, the pump has to pump fuel all of the way up to the engine. Same thing with hot no-restarts. Fuel pump.

No power to fuel pump. Power up to open circuit relay.

No power to the fuel pump is a common issue with Toyota Trucks. More than likely, the power wire at the top of the fuel tank sending unit is rusted off. If this is the case, you either need to drop the tank, or remove the bed to replace the sending unit assembly. I have done it both ways, but have found that removing the bed is easier than dropping the tank.
