Is motor oil level full and is the motor oil clean not overdue for being changed as dirty oil is thiner than clean oil.the other thing it could be is the valves may need to be adjusted or the valve lifters may be worn out causing the ticking noise.

Lifter ticking

do an oil and filter change first. you should put an engine flush in before doing that. as you can get a ticking sound due to dirty oil .or very thin oil higher mileage cars need thicker oil. like 20/40.

Any rattles that come from an engine are not a good thing. This is most likely a catastrophic failure of a component like connecting rod, piston, valve rocker etc. Time for a new engine .

Motor makes a pecking sound at 2000 rpm only under a load.does not do it while reving parked

Noise out of the engine. Noisy valves? Low oil level? Is the sound like tick, tick, tick, tick......that's how bad valves sound. I don't know if you have solid lifters those have to be adjusted after some mileage. Hydraulic ones are self adjusting. Only a good mechanic can tell for sure.
