I went to Autozone and they stated that the service engine light is on due to that the knock sensor 1 bank 1 needs to be replaced. This is the 3rd time this year that I've replaced the knock sensor. Why could this be? It's like everytime it rains heavily, the service engine light comes on, and of course, the reason is due to the knock sensor. How do you replace it and why does this keep occurring?
Something is causing the knock sensor to activate the C/E light. It could be as small as a vacuum leak that's causing the timing to change, emissions, electrical ect. Just because u have a sensor code doesn't mean the sensor is faulty. Have it professionally ckd & diagnosed.
It will not be the sensor it will be the sensor plug seal if it only does this when its been or is raining. change the rubber seal on the plug and clean the connections on the plug and the plug lead. spray some switch cleaner on after cleaned the white res off, and plug back into the sensor lead.
Knock sensor problems arise from ---wiring --poor connections --knock sensor----insecure KS--KS incorrectly tightened ---wiring short to positive --wiring short to ground ---ECM
as you can see , there are more causes than the KS itself so care should be taken in the installation, tightening , wires and make sure that the area is water proof

Yes it will. GM has new replacement upper intermediate shaft for around 55-70 dollars depending on where you buy it. Took about an hour to change. Instructions with pictures on internet. Lock steering wheel so it does not move or you will break air bag sensor wire. They sell a pin to insert into steering wheel to lock it into place. Hope this helps

the knock sensors are located below the intake plenum,or,upper intake manifold as some call it, they screw into the lower intake, the front one is sensor 1, the rear is sensor 2. it is wise to change both if you have some miles.since you are going to be buying a gasket set to do this job.the sensors are cheaper than the gaskets.

on my gmc i have 2 knock sensors and im not possitive if you have two or not under your intake mani but when i replaced both mine i got the same code of low input so i took the small needle out and wire brushed it clean and also traced and ran a new wire just to be safe and that solved my problem. as for bank 1,2 if it helps any my bank one is located engine side driverside and bank2 is engine side passenger side and 3 and 4 are underneath bed side. but you can see the sensors if you look real close near the headers. hope this helps

you need to disconnect the wire in the rh floor board of cab and then you can check timing.
