I have a 93 M/Benz SL500 having problem with the convertible top. The switch for activating the convertible top lights constantly and when driving, a terrible warning noise occor. Everything seem to work ok, but when operating the convertible top, the windows does not close automatic. I've tried to operate the convertible top manually, but without succes. How do I solve the problem?

    Any 'expertise' I have came the hard way...something broke and I did what you're doing, look for answers. Please do post back on the forum with an update status on what you tried, what was the result, etc. There are many others who know a hell of a lot more than I do about these things, and the broader you distribute your issues, the more likely someone will help come up with a concrete answer for you.

    I doubt that the hydraulic cylinders are the fault here, you'd have leaks of fluid that would be easy to spot. If this were my car, I'd...

    o Check the hydraulic fluid at the pump; located under the spare at the absolute bottom of the trunk. If the fluid is not up to the full mark, top it off with either MB branded fluid or Febi-Bistein p/n 02615

    o If fluid is ok, the solid light on the switch and warning buzzer usually indicate an electrical fault in the system or the system needs to be re-synchronized. To re-synch, start the car, close the doors; push and hold both window switches down simultaneously for a count of 5 after the window stops. Then release the switches, and repeat the prior step moving the windows in the opposite direction back to where you started.

    Try to move the top using the control button after you've done the synch.

    If you still get the same flashing light on the control button and alarm noise, it can also indicate that the top controller (under the parcel shelf behind the passenger seat) is throwing diagnostic codes. Therefor, the next thing I'd do is clear the controller codes.

    So, to summarize to this point, check fluid, re-synch the windows, try to move the top using the control button, clear codes, try to move the top using the control button. Always have the doors closed and engine running when working the top; a weak battery will also make the system go into default mode (that's where it is now)

    Try this stuff and post how you make out back on the forum. There are more knowledgeable people around than me that can join this conversation.

Look around your convertible top and its like you have problem with the black seal some thing there make your convertible top not close good . try look again and i hop you found the problem . look good .let me know .

code p1570 refers to ignition switch control module/ECM-attempted theft/data bus/not compatible ===causes --wiring--connections--trouble codes stored in other system--ignition switch control module---ECM
If this is a recent problem I would suggest that the ignition switch module be checked/replaced.

2003 sl500 the right side line is leaking hydronic fluid and the top won't open

your problem is the fluid is low and doesn't have enough fluid in the pump to operate. you can add fluid at the rear underneath your spare tire. the fluid is a special blend only at mercedes benz dealer. anything else will cause the top cylinders to fail and it is very costly to repair. the fluid is about $20. It leaks because you have a leaking seal in the top cylinder. Mercedes knew this would happen this is why it leaks right in front of your face hard to ignore that huh.

Dash lights come on when i touch the brakes car seems to cut out battery light flickers i think its when i brake very lightly any tips thanks

Looks like your brake light harness was repaired and reconnected it in the wrong way.
Check the rear brake light and park light harness. Electrician can check and restore the harness.

Recently started having problems with convertible top getting stuck in both the opened and closed positions. 1995 Mercedes-Benz SL500. Any idea what the problem might be? And, is there any way to bypass...

hopefully will be a easy fix this one, first check the micro-switches for the roof assembly (in the boot) and check any ground wire connections

you could try resetting the system also as this may help

if its still the same after this post back and ill try and help again.
