Upstream should be before the catalytic converter, and downstream should be after the cat.

- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2.
- A third oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 would be numbered O2 Sensor 1/3.
- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 2/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.



- If a V-6 or V-8 vehicle only uses one downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) it is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2, even if it uses two upstream HO2S.

In 1996 all cars were OBD2 or on board diagnostics 2. Requiring two oxygen sensors. One for the engine and one for the catalytic converter. Some 95''s had this also, but you probably only have one oxygen sensor or one per cylinder bank. Good luck.

The knock sensor is located on the side of the engine block. And the oxygen sensors are located in the exhaust system. There will be one oxygen sensor (upstream) screwed into either the exhaust manifold or the exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter. The other oxygen sensor (down stream) will be screwed into the exhaust pipe just after the catalytic converter.

There is a sensor in your car telling your computer to light up your check engine light. When your car drives okay it is usally associated with a faulty switch or sensor. Probably oxygen sensor

It should be in the exhaust downpipe, between the engine and the catalytic converter.

these did not have a 3rd sensor
V6 engine only has one each side just after exhaust manifold flange.
