I recently had a battery replaced in the 2000 Saturn Ls and now my odometer does not work. What could have caused this? The trip also went back to 0 and it reads 694,947.

The 2000 Saturn models LS and LW are Saturn's first midsize cars,
In 2000, there was also a Saturn coupe, a subcompact sedan and a subcompact station wagon.Your car starting to run hot or can't starting ,maybe some wrong of the engine the battery or with something else. You can use a diagnostic check it at frist ,to find the tool ,on the obd2tool website.you will save some money and hassle.
Saturn tail light housings are a known problem. Saturn had a service bulletin on them and would even compensate for the expense of the replacement for the 2000 model in late 2000 and 2001. The contacts are cheesey and made of plastic...get hot then warp and break. Poor design and a unreliable system. Cost on replacements is very high. You might find a useable one in a salvage yard, hard to say if it works until you install it.
First make sure all wires are tightand connected correctly.
2nd check for spark at distributer then plugs.
3rdcheck for any reset button for gas .
4th check fuses
We had the same problem with ours, that is a Saturn recall items. Check with your Saturn dealer to see if it is still in effect. It use to make our headlight switch get hot. I think it was a poor ground in the taillight housing, I use to wiggle the bulb plug-ins and that helped for a while, but after the recall was fixed it never did it again.
The problem is your Body Control Module, located on top the glove box.It will need replaced & programmed to fix.Costs about $300.00 It also has to be new due to mileage being stored inside.Hope this helps
Hello these codes do not appear in OBD 2 code retrieval book Generic or factory! anyhow sounds like you hit your speed sensor switch on your batter installation thes transmission are open space on these models I would look at this good place to start used at the end of the speedo cable is the switch!!!! good luck
My odometer reads the same. My mechanic said it was my instrument cluster, which is a $900 part and $100 to install. I guess I don't really need my odometer.
