SOURCE: need how to find TDC on 4.3 v-6

Remove # 1 plug and stick your finger in the hole, roll the engine over by hand, when you start to feel pressure in the cylinder you are near TDC, just check the crank pulley marks to zero it to TDC mark on pulley.

SOURCE: proper placement of a 351 windser dist. in reference to the rotor button to block. witch way does it point.

it really doesnt matter where it points,as long as you plug #1 plug to where the rotor points to,with the crank at top dead center on the timing marks, just to where you know it is.But if its really important to you to have it done like the factory sets it then let me know since i own a Bronco with a 5.8

I suggest you have the injectors tested by the dealer, the sludge buildup will not cause a miss fire. to clean the throttle body use carberator spray while holding the engine idle high.

1997 chevrolet blazer does not have spark in the spark plugs I already replaced the crankshaft sensor and still wont start

if it has a distributor, it is most likely the ignition module inside thats shot. call an auto parts store. and I think they can test them to be sure if its bad or not. check the cap and rotor also ! you can turn dist. a bit if timing is off. theres a hold down bolt underneath dist just loosen it. just so you can turn it to where it runs the best! then tighten and try it. if not the module. make sure power is going to dist. also make sure dist. shaft is turning, in dist. hope this helps.

Multiple missfires on 2000 blazer just off idle. seems better with the map sensor disconnected.4.3

first off, just take distributor cap off and check the cap for corrosion and pitting. turn the dist. shaft by hand. if it turns a lot then the gear on bottom of dist, shaft is worn. you can either replace dist. or replace gear on shaft. check all wires and plugs. hard to say, but i would start at distributor to see if it is ok.

I have a 99 Jimmy with 4.3 engine. I have bad missing in the engine. I have replaced all wires, plugs, cap and rotor. This unit is still missing and setting a general misfire code. I have no vacuum leaks...

I found the problem and 99 jimmy is running great now. the major problem was the intake manifold gaskets sucking air and causing random misfire codes(bad fuel/air ratio) but also we pulled the distributor as well because from 87-99 the drive gear was made of soft material and sure enough 3 teeth on the dist gear were almost worn right off. We also replaced this with 120$ new rebuilt unit.
Intake gasket kit is approx 100$ and no more than 2 hrs labour and the distributer is real easy to pull and replace once the intakes are off so this is a good time to check dist with little extra labour.

How hard is it to change the cam positioning

it is not that bad. easier than a tune-up. it is under the distributor cap under a plastic dust shield. three wire sensor. remove cap and rotor , then dust shield and then the two screws holding it down. install in the reverse!

good luck

Removed & replaced dist. cap and rotor on 1993 S10 Blazer 4.3 V-6

The firing order for a Chevy s10 depends on which engine you have. 1.9L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates counterclockwise. 2.0L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise. 2.5L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise. 2.8L engine the firing order is: 1-2-3-4-5-6 . Distributor rotates clockwise. 4.3L engine the firing order is: 1-6-5-4-3-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise.

I currently own a 99 Blazer, 6cyl 4.3L, 4 door, auto trans. My check engine light is on, and the local shops cant pinpoint the problem, except that cyl 2, 4 and 6 are randomly misfiring. I have changed...

If you not running the OEM cap and rotor that's where your problem may be. The after market cap and rotor is not as heavy as the OEM and when the two screws that hold down the cap to the distributor is torqued to high,it warps the cap and that's where your problem may be. Remove the cap and inspect the inside and look for abnormal arching, you may want to replace the cap and rotor again. The other thing to is the breather screen in the distributor is known to get plugged up with dirty creating condensation which promote corrosion in the distributor there was a service bulletin from GM to service the screen when working on the distributor or during tune up's. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help.

Put distributor cap on blazer fire came out of engine

If when you changed the distributor cap you misplaced the wires in the incorrect order you could have caused a misfire. When looking at the cap the correct firing order for a 4.3 liter is 165432 going clockwise. Also if you loosened the distributor hold down bolt and turned the distributor even slightly you could cause a misfire.
