Suggest obtain the shop manual for your model and turn to the wiring diagram pages.
If you still have problems, find a 12 volt circuit and use that to splice in your aftermarket stereo. Be sure the circuit is through your ignition/accessories switch. Also be sure to use an in-line fuse to prevent shorting issues.
In worst case scenario you can inspect the back of your speakers and find the color of the wires and use that info to connect your aftermarket stereo. Be sure that the impedance of your speakers matches the wattage and impedance of your aftermarket stereo. A good volt/ohm meter is handy for this task. Good luck.
Buy wiring kit and radio dash kit from parts store for the paticuliar vehicle remove old radio, splice wires from new stereo to wiring kit, they should be color coded, install radio dash kit plug in wiring harness slide stereo into dash and enjoy
Go to the auto parts store and get a wire adaptor made for a 1992 trueno. It will plug into your factory harness. The wire colors are prematched to your sony and other aftermarket stereos. Just match the wire colors, splice with connectors making sure no wires are exposed. (A little electrical tape for good measure around splices helps). Then it just plugs in. If your factory stereo has mounts that screw onto the radio, unscrew them and attach them to the sony. Remove sleeve from radio and discard. The screw holes are already on the sony.
I have put alot of break controlers in and you want it to the out put side of break light switch i always hooked it to the switch. Also wherever i spliced i used heat shrink connectors, even if the wires are different sizes thats just the way i do it, and never had any problems.
all you have to do is remove the trim and checkout the plugs and the wires to see if they are the same and it came out of one caravan to the other you should not have no problem at all because in the wiring one of them is for the cd player also
The whole front plastic cover over the stereo and heater controls is screwed in with two screws at the bottom of the cover, just above the cupholders. Take out those two screws and then pop off the cover, which is held in place by clips up the sides and at the top. There are four bolt/screws that hold the radio/cassette/cd (whichever you have) in place. Unscrew them and replace the stereo. Plugs SHOULD fit, and if they do just replug it and you're good to go. If the plugs DON'T match up, get a wiring harness from Best Buy or Walmart.
But be warned! Just because the stereos look VERY similar and fit very nicely into the other spot in the dash, they may NOT have matching wiring plugs. I just put a 2003 Neon CD player into my 2002 Caravan, and the harnesses didn't match up and neither did the antenna.
Good luck!
Hello, Unfortunately you cannot hook this stereo up with out the original plug that fits into the stereo unit. Once you have that then you could buy an wiring adapter that will break out the wires out of the original harness with labeled wires and you can just match them up and tape them together. Good Luck Rich Lilja
