2000 dakota w/ 3.9l auto quad 2wd 165 km (115 miles)
-had slippage going from 2nd to 3rd when cold...occasionally
-got codes:
1757 (gov. pressure above 3psi in gear w/ 0 mph)
1762 gov. pressure sensor offset (volts too high or low)
-had a tranny flush/filter change...+ changed Gov Pressure Sensor & transducer...at a Chrysler dealership)
-now
when cold ONLY...won't shift into 3rd gear (slips....like it disengages
2nd, but won't re-engage in 3rd)....nearly everytime....goes away after
10 minutes or so....shifts fine.....shop can't replicate...'suggest a
rebuild for $2600...due to potential seal failure..oil seepage'
-help!!!!!

0753 is shift solenoid A, electrical problem.as for the other codes they should start with a zero not a one. if they started with a 0757 that means shift solenoid B,stuck in on position. 0762 means shift solenoid C,stuck in on position. 0765 means shift solenoid D,malfunction

I have had to replace the governor on those dodge transmissions, and there is a filtering metal mesh screen around the governor inlet port that seems to always get plugged up with small metal shavings. The governor is located under the transmission pan to the rear of the main valve body.

Is the 1-2 shift high also? When you had the valve body off did you check the screens on the governor solenoid and the 3-4 shift solenoid? These tend to plug up.

it will be the o2 sensor after the cat.. check the connections. the first bank should be the right side of the engine while sitting in the car. look at that side of the exhaust.

I do not........please tell me more. Any other symptoms that would lead/confirm that the pump is defective?
-I just returned from a 400 km trip, and things seems to shift very well...even in the morning when cold.......knock on wood...
-is there a 'break-in' period after the service work...to retrain the computer how to shift?
-it seemed to 'stick' in 2nd this morning again (i.e. high revs..typical of the dakota), then it shifted out of 2nd..then just revved up....just not wanting to go into 3rd...for 30-40 seconds...til it warmed up
-this is after about 3-4 minutes of driving...going up through the gears once...then downshifts (as I slow to go around my country corners) it goes out....not wanting to go back into 3rd when asked to
....kinda coast for a bit...then it engages again.....not really a 'slip'...just a 'non-engagement'
-hope my low-tech terminology isn't just confusing you
-this is what is began to do immediately following the service work described above (filter, fluid, flush, transducer and Gov. pressure sensor-as indicated by obd 2 codes)
How do you know the trans oil pump isn't defective and has low pressure? it sounds like that may be the problem.
