Check and see if all your high and low beam bulbs work, if one is burned out that will cause problems. Then check the DRL resistor that is located in front of the drivers front tire below the headlamp. It will most likely be in two or more pieces and need to be replaced. Go see a saturn dealer and tell them you need the DRL resistor they should know exactly what you need.
SOURCE: i have a 2003 saturn vue 6 cylinder. my service engine soon light
From the looks of it this is a very common problem with the 2002-2003 saturn vue. There was a Technical Service Bulletin from saturn about the problem, which means it happens alot but not quite enough to warrant a recall.
You need to replace your thermostat and it is a pain to do, the dealership will charge you about 2 hours flat rate to put it in.
Its not a huge deal to get it replaced right away, but the computer depends on the vehicle being a certain temperature and if it isn't then your performance/emissions will suffer.

well it sounds like a normal 6 cylinder L-series issue,,,the pressure control solenoid inside the transmission goes bad and causes a very hard shift and turns on the light,,,,,, it sets a p1780 code,,,,,you need to replace that solenoid,,,,this is not a do it yourself at home job,,,,,must go to the dealer,,,the trans flush and fill did not having anything to do with this issue,,,,,its a common issue for the 6 cylinder L,,,the 4 cylinder never did this ,just the 6,,,,,probably like at least a $500 or more repair,,parts not much but alot of labor to get to the solenoid,,,,,i rec take to dealer
