I have the same problem, first the compter told me that I needed a new battery, so I replaced. As soon as I replaced battery car stated that the ESP was out, ABS was out, Consumer Defective, I mean the car lit up light a christmas tree. No problems previous to the computer stating I need a new battery. When I called Dealership, they stated that I couldn't change battery myself and that the dealer needed to it. And that the problem was that the car needed to be reprogrammed since I disconnect battery from car for 1 day. Dealership stated it would cost around 400.00 to fix this. Any suggestions on the reprogramming?

I have a similar problem on my 2001 C320 Auto. Intermittent ESP error comes on dashboard and there is no throttle unless you switch off car and start again. Problem has become more frequent now and happens about once or twice a day. Was told by dealership that its a fualty accelerator pedal, which I replaced but to no avail. Managed to take it into dealership while error was still displayed on dash. They put computer on which gave the following error for ESP: C1022-002 CAN bus fault and C1202 A7/7s1 (BAS release switch). I have also noticed that problem only occurs at low speed and about 90% of the time when you are turning left. Any suggestions?

My "Mercedes-Benz" started cutting back 3 months ago. I pull over, cut the car off and start it back up and it works like a charm. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times for this problem...of course they don't find anything. Last night 11:34 pm, with my 2 year in the back, the car did it again on a major thru-way. This time the ESP warning popped up..I took a picture with my camera phone to show the dealer. Just as I had done previous...turn the car off and back on...and it took off. My next car will be a Toyota or Hyundai!

I had the same problem once. I tried what I was told and it worked. turn on the car. turn the engine on, while still in the parked position. turn the steering wheel all the way from the right to the left several times, turn off the engine. wait a few seconds, then start the car again. worked like magic

Bk123roc, had same problem. dealer knew exactly what it was when i explained problem. they said it was the crank shaft sensor that needed replacing. cost $600.00 (part $250, remainder was for labor.) apparently its pretty common problem. haven't had that problem since, but now having the esp error like other reporting. i agree next car is anything but a mercedes.

I agree with the best solution report, that worked for me too, except that I followed the manual instructions: started the engine, turned the wheel all the way to left, then all way to the right, then I centered it, and ta daaa, the problem was gone!!

Engine block light comes on and car will not shift int gear. problem comes and goes but leaves you stranded. Computer will not hold the error code so dealer cant figure out problem. HELP!!!!

the engine light also is controlled by a problem in the transmission. If there is a problem shifting gears then have an accredited transmission shop look for the problem

The Dynamic stability control (ESP/ASR) warning light is displaying, accompanied by an audible signal with a message 'ESP/ASR system faulty. What do i do to correct this fault?

I think you need a deeper code read- only the dealer can get the diagnostic codes to find the specific sensors that might be broken. Should do it for free or a few dollars

Error code P0720

The P0720 is a transmission code (sorry...I couldn't find a complete code description). Take it to the dealer or a good ****** shop.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

2005 Kia Rio keeps on throwing check engine light with speed code error code. Dealer replaced plugs, wires, rotor cap, and speed sensor on transmission. The light still comes on. When gas peddle is...

take it to an accredited service center as the engine light is reading a transmission fault indicates by your transmission doesn't shift comment
The dealer has just cost you lots of cash and hasn't fixed the fault simply because he didn't read codes first

Duag code u1262, p0500 & p0720

Your codes are as follows:

U1262 communications bus fault
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
P0720 Output Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

What, if any, symptoms is your vehicle showing?

If your Vehicle Spped Sensor has gone bad, it can cause loss of anti-lock brakes, "anti-lock" or "brake" warning lamps on the dash, the speedometer or odometer may not work properly (or at all), your vehicle's RPM limiter may be decreased or automatic transmission shifting to be erratic.
