Check your fuel pressure it should be 60-66 psi with key on engine off.If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump and filter.Sounds like the pump might be weak.

SOURCE: Loss of power

Do you know how check if every cilinder is working? with the engine in idle, go to the distribuitor cap and carefully unplug one at the time, every cilinder spark plug wire,in the cilinder you dont see a diference in rpm variation, that cilinder is not working, replace spark plug, if you see spark jumping fron the distribuitor cap torch the spark plug wire, another cause to a cilinder fail could be a loss of compression in one or more cilinder

SOURCE: 1996 gmc k1500 4x4 5.7 vortec motor no start keep

Replace the coolant sensor on the front of the intake manifold. The coolant sensors on this engine does go bad and wont set a check engine light. The sensor will read about -32 to 0 degrees when they do go bad. The computer thinks it is that cold and sends tons of fuel to the engine. If you try to start the engine with the throttle depressed to the floor it puts the fuel system in clear flood mode and wont fire the injectors. Engine will start then and run very rich. The coolant sensor has two wires on it and sometimes you need to replace the wiring pigtail going to it as the sensor can seep coolant into the connector and corrode the terminals. All the parts are available at pepboys and autozone or napa. Good luck

2000 Dodge Status SE, runs for a bit then cuts off. Had a brake light that did not work with headlights on, changed bulb, a day out so later car shutters and dies. Get it started a couple times and manage...

I think... you have an electrical grounding problem, and it's responsible for your right-side lights failing as well as being responsible for your fuel pump (in the tank) not getting any power, which would explain the car dying.

When it stutters & dies, I'll bet you can't hear the fuel pump humming, can you? But you CAN hear the fuel pump humming on days when it starts right up.

...and it's all down to a bad connection someplace, a connection that gets shaken as the car is driven. A GROUND (negative) connection, somewhere between the battery, the engine, the firewall's sheet metal, the dashboard, and the rear of the car.

Have the fuel pump pressure checked (sounds like the fuel pump is goiing out). The fuel pressure should be 46-50 psi on the 2.0L & 2.4L engines.
On the 2.0L SOHC engine fuel pressure should be from 44-55 psi.

Our fuel pump stopped working on our 98 Chevy Blazer V6 4.3L Vortec Engine, so we bought a new one. A couple days later (before replacing the fuel pump) it started up and ran but ran crappy. So we did

what did you do (replace it) if you still have a miss you may need to tune it up / make sure the fuel pump you bought is for the right psi for your blazer

1998 chevy k1500 idle fast

Sounds like it could be a dirty or faulty idle air control valve.Take it off and clean it with a wire brush and a non-chlronated brake cleaner or replace it with a new one.Make sure you reset the computer after cleaning or replacing the valve.

Hello all, I have a 2001 Chevy Suburban 5.3L with 133,000 miles on it. It starts up fine, I put it in drive, it doesn't move, put it in reverse, it backs up, put it back in drive and away we go. The rest...

trannsmission solienoids may be sticking, try some tranx, you can get at the parts store. this stuff is great. it might take a day or two but it works. for the other truck, did you have the front brakes checked, they can bind up, when you back up it frees them up.also, but not probable for 2001 check the brake hoses, they can collapse from the inside, not letting your brakes release all the way good luck
