The ignition was ripped apart when I bought it and disassembled down to a plastic round peace of white plastic with a round black peace of plastic in the middle with a **** big enough for the end of the key to fit in. It worked till the plastic broke. It's hanging by six wires and I don't know what's what nor if I can use a 20 amp switch or if it has to be two 30 amp switches?
Why don't you just buy a new ignition switch and put it back together the way it was originally designed instead of "rigging" something that will probably end up burning your car to the ground?
The entire switch, tumbler and mounting bracket assembly is available from AutoZone. 1997 Mercury Tracer Ignition Switch
