Idle problem my 1997 dodge 1500 318 cu. will not idle at all. new air cleaner new plugs. warm or cold will not idle. please help

I would take your idle air control valve out and clean the port and part. could be carboned up.

1. Injector cleaner.2. Does it have enough miles (75K-plus) to consider changing plugs?3. What's the air cleaner look like?4. Any codes showing?Here I am trying to give answers when I probably know less than you....Good luck.

idle air control valve can be removed and cleaned

you know what that sounds like it may be.... believe it or not check your trans fluid (car running WARM and in park ) make sure that the fluid is red almost pink like not dark red. Also why not try and change out the spark plugs and air cleaner!

has anyone put the lab scope on ignition yet

tune up, fuel filter, air filter, dirty throttle body, put good one to gas fuel injector cleaner.

have the throttle body cleaned it is restricting air flow from having to much carbon in the intake yes and also it is time for plugs and wires.

Remove the air idle control valve located on the side of the throtttle body it will have (2) torx screws and an electricle plug. remove it clean it with carb or brake cleaner and reinstall. you will run smooth again.

Lots of times the idle air control valve gets stuck on these engines. You can try cleaning it. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body. Start the engine and spray throttle plate cleaner through the hole in the bottom on the throttle body. This will run the cleaner through the idle air control valve. make sure to keep the RPM's at about 2000 to 2500 throughout this procedure. You may need to install a new idle air control valve if it continues to happen.

Remove IAC motor/valve on side of throttle body that regulates idle especially under load conditions, and clean it & the port good with throttle body cleaner & re-try. If it cures it for a while, then does it again, replace it with new one.
