(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

Translation:
Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure.

P0700 Information Code

The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM.

This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes.

So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it. It needs to be scanned with trans capable scanner to see what the trans code or problem is. You should have 1st, 2nd, and Reverse because the car is operating in limp-mode. Since you said the speedometer doesn't work, my guess would be a faulty (VSS) vehicle speed sensor.

We have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 that is jerking into gear. It is an automatic vehicle and not a 4x4. This started two days ago and we were on our way back; it was a 25 minute drive we were taking and all of a sudden the truck felt like we hit someone. We did not hit anyone and we checked behind us to see if either something fell out or we ran over something. We pulled over and checked under the truck but did not see anything. Immediatly we saw that the "check engine light" came on so we took it to get checked out. They told us that it came up as Code PO 700. That is all they were able to say since they are not a transmission place. We were told to take it to a transmission shope and they can pin point what is wrong. We have only driven it twice...since the problem started. It now jerks when it goes into 2nd; what I believe is 2nd. Plus when you are taking off it takes off like it is a manual vehicle. Does anyone have any idea what is going on. We plan on taking it to get checked out by the transmission shop but in order to do that we want to have the money to fix the problem and not have to leave the truck there and pay storage fees. Can anyone help?

I have had the same problem before. I was driving down the road when my problems started. My speedometer stop working and my car wouldn't shift out of 2nd. I had a family friend who is a mechanic check it out. He hooked it up to the computer and it ended up being the Turbine Sensor. However you would want to find out exactly which sensor it might be because there is another sensor that can cause that problem as well. I think this happend to me about a year ago but the part costed maybe around $30 or $40. I cant remember what trouble code I had when we hooked it up but that what was wrong with mine.

Type in odb2 po700 in google and it will pull up your answer. The other 2 codes im unformiliar with. May mean you need to update your obd2 code reader software or those are transmission codes. Go to auto zone or orielies

PO888 and PO700 code

In the causes for po888 the main reason is sensor circuit malfunction with the wiring poor connection being listed. Check that the wiring connectors are free of moisture and that the pins are clean and tight. code p0700 is straight out TCM problem so again I would be carefully inspecting the wiring and connections at both ends

Dodge 2002 stratus 2.4liter codes po016 p0700 ,po562,what could these mean & how do you fix

lets start with po562, this is a transmission code with low voltage reading at trans solenoids, for this code test your battery and alternator,
the next code po700, this code is to tell you that there is a transmission code stored in the transmission module, which could be the po700. but sccanning the trans module may be a good idea to check for other codes, i assume at this point you are having transmission problems? as far as these codes i would check all fuses and connectors going to transaxle(transmission). you may have internal problems, as we know these chrysler transmissions are junk but you may have bad connection or bad wire to transaxle controller.
last code po016 this code i would check first, i have worked on a few of these that had po016 which means crank and cam correlation . this means the crank and cam are not aligned meaning worn chain , these 2.7 engine... or cam gear spun. testing this ,you will need to know about car repair or you could damage the engine if it isnt already.

I have my friends '02 Dodge Caravan, it's showing 2 trouble codes on my scanner, P0700 and P0605. I've already changed the fluid and filter, no change. Switched out the Shift solenoid assembly...

Get it to a dealer or a trans shop and see if the tcm will communicate with a scan tool, the po700 dtc means it's strans code and the 605 normally means the tcm is shot! I see it more on sebrings then Neons but if it's the same engine and trans combo it's quite possible. If you drive it like that you can really damage the transmission so get it fixed asap.

1998 dodge stratus trans trouble code but everything is shifting right and gauges are all working

Reset the computer, easiest way to do this is disconnect a batter cable for a couple of minutes and then reconnect and check to see if the warning light goes out and stays out or comes back.

If the error returns, it signals an issue. You can take it to the local auto parts store to have then read the code for you, if it is an easy to change sensor, replace it and reset again. If it comes back or it's not a sensor you can change, take it to a transmissions shop for a diagnosis.

Hope this helps.

Troblesshooting po700

You need to have the transmission control module scanned for codes. PO700 is just a code in the ecm to tell you that there are codes stored in the TCM.
