I have a 99 gmc jimmy. I have replaced just about everything on front end..the story began with a loud ticking to clicking noise.figured it was debris caught in wheel..after a few miles it sounded like the debris left the building. But there was still a small clicking ticking sound. Now after I finally saved up my pennys, I replaced the cv axles,both ball joints,upper control arm bushings,both hub assembly,shocks,and brakes. I still have the clicking ticking sound,plus a grinding squealing sound. Now for some reason the brake caliper bracket is hitting the rotor on the passenger side just a tiny bit for some reason. Is there something im missing???? Or what??

What about replacing the failed wheel bearings that ids allowing the rotor to hit the brake calliper
the grinding sound is the rotor grinding away on the calliper or worn out brake pads

I have a 99 jimmy. and when I put in four wheel drive I hear a noise kind of like skipping teeth passenger side front axle until four wheel drive locks in. and a loud clunk when coming out of four wheel...
the actuator for the hub locking is faulty and not engaging the hub correctly. There may be badly worn teeth to engage or broken parts in the hub.
Have an accredited drive line shop check it out.

Can lifters be replaced
Oh yea, lifters can be replaced , best if you replace cam an lifters together ! Loud knocking is not usually associated with lifters , they usually make a ticking noise ! Knocking noise is most usually in the bottom of the motor , main or rod bearings . most of the time rod bearings !

check the magnet on the drain plug in the diff and if you find metal it will be the big taper roller bearing failing on the pinion.

Have a shop do a smoke test on the vapor line between the engine and vapor canistor. Mine was full of holes, same year as yours.

could be yur water pump going do you leak anti freeze or oil? also if a older model could be ot of timeing check your distributor cap and see if its loose
