1998 Dodge Ram 1500 sometimes the heater comes on and then just shuts off unexpectedly, even though I didn't turn it off. What is wrong with it? I keep the knob turned on full blast all the time, but rarely does air flow out. There is just a slight amount of heat that regularly comes out, but you wouldn't notice it without putting your hand against it the heater.

check to see if your vents are connected correctly, if one of your vents are off, clogged or disconnected it will cause this problem. I had the same problem once and come to find out one of the connections were only half way on, corrected the problem and blew like a champ after that.

Look under the hood to check and make sure there is two steel wire cables connected to the throttle body. i had the same problem on my 02 dodge ram, turns out that just one of the cables came loose

Without a code to work with i know those trucks had a problem with the t.p.s. sensor . This will also cause erratic shifting of the transmission

Radiators do not "go out". They leak or they don't... that's it. You wasted money changing a radiator if you aren't loosing coolant. The thermostat (~$10) is all you needed to change.
