With the ignition in the "off" position get a test light and touch one wire at a time while cycling the ignition switch to the "on" position, When you see that the test light goes off when the ignition switch is in the off position then you found the hot wire, make sure you dont hook it up to the "alway hot " wire or you might drain the battery hope this helps.

read (you meant main harness to radio sub harness.)
and car may have 5 or more harness for 5 or more very complex radio head end options new,so only the real service manual covers all that for sure,or if lucky 2nd fiddle here.
DONT CUT ANY. Get an adapter from car toys or amazon etc. IF you do cut it, make sure you leave room to put it back on. The Chevrolet uses the radio for onstar and body information and you are in trouble if you make a mistake
When I replace a stereo, I buy the harness which is available on Ebay.com or places like Best Buy. All of the wires are labeled and color coded which makes it easier to connect with the wire nuts to any aftermarket stereo that fits in your dash.
The stereo side of the wires should be labeled. Check out the12volt.com for a wiring schematic for the truck side. I advise against cutting and splicing wires for a stereo installation though. They make inexpensive harness adapters that will allow you to splice into the stereo harness without cutting into the factory wiring.
ok that problem is where u cut the wires on the rdaio harness u cut is a dimmer wire for your lights on the radio need to figure out which if u have a autozone or advanced parts store they have a radio wire harnes kit has all color code and wire color tells what goes where and what the wire is for
