I have a 2002 f-150 fx4, it is shaking constantly. It seem to get worse when you push the accelerator. The shaking gets worse around 40to50 mph. I have recently had a new air intake put in as well as new spark plugs. I also have replaced the PVC valve. The diagnostic is saying it is either a mass air flow sensor, or a bad O2 sensor. Please help I'm running low on money and answers

Clean the MAF first with MAF cleaner as it could be dirty . The O2s may be contaminated or lazy . The O2s may be falsely reporting or switching too slow . Does it run better when you first crank it up in morning ?

SOURCE: runs rough when cruising at 35-40 mph

try pulling off the air breather hose and look inside at the mass air flow sensor,it looks like a wire with a diode hooked to it incase you didnt know, see if there is any fuzz on it,sometimes the air filter will lose small pieces and the mass air flow sensor catches it.If that doesnt work then you may have a fuel problem, weak pressure, causing the mass air flow sensor to read too much air so it tricks the computer to adjust the issue.

SOURCE: miss fire

Wow, you definitely covered the bases. The next step is to find out whats going on inside the engine. Try doing a compression test, that will tell you if you not only have good rings, but also what condition your valves are in. If the misfire is always in the same cylinder, I would check the cam on that side of the engine, its not outside the realm of possibility you have a worn cam lobe. Just out of curiosity, did the check engine light come on?

When I accelerate forward from a comp stop my car makes a loud grinding/screeching by the front driver side. Once running the noise stops but until it catches speed it makes the sound. What is that?

It could be several things, and I'm going to assume that the vehicle is front wheel drive.

First possibility is the constant velocity joint on the driver's side is worn out.

Second possibility is the wheel bearing on the driver's side.

As to the shaking at 70+mph, you may have an alignment problem, or some issues with the suspension components on that side of the car.

Does the noise get worse when accelerating from a stop, and turning, at the same time?

At 40 mph the car starts to shake. It last to 5o

I have this same car with exactly the same problem. Begins shaking at 40mph and stops shaking as soon as you let off the gas, but then begins again as soon as you press on the gas and smooths out as you get over 50. And the shaking is not felt through the steering wheel. Solution: Replace the transmission mounts. There are two of them, one on each side mounted on the frame right next to the shock strut. There is also a front and rear engine mount, but I replaced the two as described and shaking is gone.

1.6 Automatic Jumps When Accelerating From Rest - GB Oil Prob?

your transmission is gone... i had the same problem.. be carfull you may loose first gear.... check your fluid level.. that might cause it... to do that you have to worm up the tranny then there is a square head bolt on bottom side off passenger side... leave car running. pull the bolt and keep an oil pan underneath... that happened to me. i left it for to long and ended up blowing the tranny. i got a rebuild and i was told i had too much fluid. i hope that helps..
