Alero shakes when car is stopped and in gear

When the car is stopped at a stop sign or light, and in gear, the engine shakes. As soon as I drive, the shaking stops. What could be the issue?

    Automatic transmission, tune-up was done, and the issue was happening even before the tune-up. Coil was recently changed, and a fuel pump replaced about 10-15K miles ago.

    Didn't get it figured out. Motor mounts were checked and I was told they are fine. Seems to worsen when the AC is on.

Sound like you have a cylinder not firing properly, a tune-up would be the first thing i'd try

    I've had a tune-up, and the same issue was happening before the tune-up as it is now.

    this may sound funny,but have your motor mounts checked. or, you can check them them yourself. have someone get in the car and with the emeg. brake and foot brake on, shift from reverse to drive a couple of times.if the engine rocks back and forth a good bit that could be the problem.

The clutch is not releasing completely.because of that when u stop in gear,the engine vibrates and consequently the car shakes.

Have you at all serviced the automatic gear box? one possibility is the gear box.Also the vibration is either broken gear box or engine mountings broken or weak.

My toyota runx shakes when it's in drive after stopping say at a trtaffic light
you might need to take it to a dignostics centre to get to the bottom of the problem. Is there an engine check error showing on the dash board?

I suspect that your car's suspension or the gear box has a problem. In the meantime, whenever you stop (say at a traffic light), change the gear to Neutral (N) temporarily and then back into gear when you want to move. Also, you should have your fuel injector checked, this can also cause jerking.

Start the car and have some stand behind the vehicle while it is running in park and rev the engine to see if exhaust gases are coming out, if not sounds like the cat converter is clogged.

Make sure the fuel cap is fully seated. It could also be water in the fuel. Try putting some fuel treatment in that removes water.

Nissan Sentra "Service Engine Soon" and uncontrolable shaking.
I had the same problem. It was the intake gasket, very common in this model. A $12.00 gasket - Nissan wanted $1000.00 to install it. I got it done for $327.00 - engine light still remains on but car drives just fine.
