I have a 2006 chevrolet equinox.. recently it has been having trouble starting. it will turn over but it sounds like it clicks and clicks - if i keep turning it and pushing it eventually it will start but it sounds terrible prior to. i replaced the battery and it did nothing.. what could this be? some days it will be ok, others it takes a lot of the cranking to work

Make sure the doors and trunk, and hood are shut, open them, and shut them .activate the anti theft, wait about 1 minute, and disarm it,see if it will start,if not,the key fob may need to be relearned, try turning the key on,leave it ten minutes, then turn it off,and right back on,then wait ten minutes, and turn it off,and right back on,do this a total of three times,,30 minutes, then try and start.

sounds like you have a starter solenoid problem. Or maybe loose connections on solenoid.

Its the same for both types of Equinox.
The short story: the fuel filter is an integral part of the fuel pump, and 06 Equinox has 2 fuel pumps (each presumably with its own filter), due to the odd shape of its fuel tank.
Note: the last time I thought I had a car whose owner thought it was a fuel pump/fuel strainer/fuel filter promplem turned out to have a bad spark plug wire - it caused identical symptoms (engine missing alot, especially going uphill).
