Can you change freeze plugs on a 1997 Ford f150 without pulling the motor?

If the core plugs have been pushed out due to freezing, there is likely more damage to the engine.
The rear core plug is difficult to get to and you may need a ramp with an engine hoist to loosen the engine mounts and lower the front/raise the rear of the engine. to get to it.

I have antifreeze coolant leaking from the rear of my engine and want to gain excess to my rear freeze plugs. Do I pull my transmission to change the rear freeze plugs on the 1989 crown Victoria?

Yes, you have to pull the transmission. But look it over closely. Most likely the coolant is coming from somewhere else. I have never seen or replaced a bad freeze plug back there. Water can't get to them to rust them out from the outside in. Only if you use water only to cool the engine. Heater hoses and the intake manifold gaskets can cause a leak in this area.

Replacing freeze plugs on Madza 929 Do you have to take the head off to get to some of them ?

if you ever have this issue where you don't believe them. they have shop manuals and can show you the parts in the motor. you have the 6 cylinder and i don't have the shop manual to see how they come apart. most engines you don't need to pull the heads off. yours could be different. there should be freeze plugs around the block that rust out and are a pain to change. did they pull the motor to change those? what year is it and i am guessing you live where they salt the roads

1992 chev s10 , 2.8 v6 , leaking freeze plug

If the welsh plug is in a position where by removing several items ( manifold --engine mount etc and you can get enough space to swing a hammer to install the new plug. then it can be done with difficulty. If the plug faces the fire wall then unfortunately the motor has to be pulled . The only advantage is that it is just not the one plug because if one is rusted out the rest will not be far behind so it is an opportunity to do the lot.. IT is a good reason to always ensure that the coolant conditioner is always changed regularly and kept up to percentage required.
