From under the car you will need to get up to where the actual catch mechanism is located, from there you should be able to manually release the hood, it may take some effort , but there will be access, although limited... if there is part of the cable accessible grab it with vice grips and pull, hood should release. if not you'll have to find the part on the catch itself that the cable connects too and pull it to release.

My hood release latch is disengaged and i cant open my hood i need to know how to open it with out the wire

you will have to try to get to the hood release at the latch from either under the car on the front side of the latch or try to get to the release mechanism from the front of the car through the grill area if its accessible, you will have to get inventive to release the latch.

The hood will not open on my 2002 subaru legacy. can you help me?

try having someone hold the hood release open while you lift the hood. sometimes if you push down first then up it will release. If there is no way to get it open you might try to see the bolts through the grille to unbolt the hood latch through the
grille. If you cant get to it that way try to come from the bottom. Sometimes you can put a long screwdriver through the grille opening and reach the hood latch where the cable hooks and pry it the same way the cable would pull it. If you cant get it through the grille you will have to come from the bottom with a long screw driver to reach the hood latch at the radiator support and find the latch release action. you will have to remove some splash covers under the rediator support.

1998 dodge neon hood latch broken, can't open the hood. any suggestions on fixing it

use a coat hanger and go through grill and hook the hood latch. you can also lay under front of car with a few extensions and a rachet, and take out the bolts that hold hood latch. if both fail. remove grill if possible to get to hood latch. good luck !!

Hood latch won't release. Can't get hood open

first, try smacking the hood at one of the front corners while someone else pulls the release handle. or even after you've pulled on it. if that works, once open, adjust and lubricate the hood latch assembly. if it still won't open, and it's the cable and not the latch you'll have to replace it anyway, so instead of removing the grill, cut the cable behind the pull lever under the dash where you can reach it. then skin the outer cable insulation away from the actual steel cable exposing an inch or two of it. then holding the insulation and plastic housing with pliers, grab the steel cable itself with pliers and pull it to open the hood. then replace the cable. the further you can reach up under the panel the better your chances of getting past the broken part of the cable and avoid removing the grill. you might also be able to gain access from up under the car if you're lucky.

Hood release broke can't open hood

I know this is an old post but for anyone that has a problem opening their hood, the solution isn't as complicated as the one above. If you're willing to lie on the ground, crawl under the front end of your impala and look up between the radiator and the grill. You have very easy access to the hood latch from below. You should see where the cable attaches to the latch mechanism. This mechanism needs to move toward the driver's side of the car to release the first hood latch. If it doesn't move freely, it probably needs some lubricant. I had to lube mine and give it a good what before it finally released. Once that releases, you can open it normally. Be sure to work the lubricant thoroughly into the latch mechanisms. If the cable needs to be replace, you now have easier access to both ends of the cable assembly.

Hood release is broken...need to open hood

A hood release works with a cable that pulls the latch open. if you have a long flat head screw-driver you can try to spring the latch itself through the front grill.

Broken hood release cable 1996 Ford F150 pickup

On each side of the latch there is an 8mm screw that can be removed through the front, between the hood and grill They are aprox 6" apart.

The latch itself has two locator pins that slide into the front suppoprt behind the grill.

After removing the two screws, gently pry the whole latch away from the support. The hood can be raised, taking the latch with it.

Access to the release lever is behind the latch. It is now exposed.
pull the tiny release lever toward the drivers side and latch will come loose. Good luck!

Hood release cable is broken

Is there any part of the cable inside the cabin that you can pull with a pair of pliers? I suggest that you try that. You may need to disassemble it from the pull handle to make that work.

Hood latch

There is no other way to release the hood other than either trying to reach the latch release from under the car or removing the grille.
