If you've checked both light bulbs and they are good, then you are looking for the neutral safety switch. It's connected to the shift lever mechanism somewhere (sorry, I can't say where because I've never looked inside one of these vehicles, much less worked on one).
On automatic transmission models, the neutral safety switch is supposed to keep the starter from running unless in Park or Neutral, as well as turn on the reverse lights in Reverse.
Remove the 2 wire connector at the master switch and jump it , light goes away the problem is the sensor at the master switch, solution replace brake master cylinder.Light still on , do the same with the switch located in the lower part of the parking brake handle goaes away replace switch, still there inspect wiring for shot, start in the brake light harness, also check the bulbs .
it will be located next to the brake pedal arm. removing it and replacing it is not that hard. adjustments to make it work correctly is simply moving it set the plunger to operate the brake lights when the brakes pedal is pushed down
