1999 F150 WIndshield wipers, dome light and side window controls not working

I have a 1999 F150 and the windshield wipers, dome lights and window controls for the passenger and drivers' side windows all stopped working at once. Additionally once I start the truck I cannot shift the truck into gear. I did figure out a way around that last problem though I have not fixed it. Any suggestions????

i have a 2001 expediton and i have the same problem, i wonder if it has to do with water coming in thru the windshield

I have the same exact problem 1999 F-150 4.6L NO dome light, no wipers, neither of the windows work and I only have High Beams, also 4WD switch is no longer working. I am going to take a look and see if i can just run my own wire configuration out. Sounds like a lot of problems with what ford did.

Had the same prob. checked all the fuses in common, all good. After searching the net found where someone changed the 5 amp #15 fuse and it fixed it. I think that powers the relay coils.

I just had the same problem with my f 150 ( 1999), my wipers, washer fluid pump, dome light, door chime stopped, I went thur the manuals, Checked appropated fuses, even changed wiper motor, (nothing worked) out of much internet checking, talking to mechanics, I got frustrated, I started pulling all the fuses under the dash,, I pulled # 15 ,a 5 amp fuse, which has nothing to do with the wipers eletronics, it was a good fuse, when i put it back in, everything came back and working fine. nearest i can figure it was either loose or a dirty contact.

#15 fuse (5 amps) on my box is for : stop lamp switch,( speed control, brake shift interlock,ABS, pcm module inputs.gem module,RABS test connector)
this was just blind luck, maybe it will help you.

The GEM provides power to a lot of the interior component relays. If fuse #15 was causing the GEM not to get power that was the problem.

Check for leaks under the dash. leaky windshield will cause water to leak on to the fuse box or the gem mod.

1999 Ford Explorer no power windows, dome lights, blower motor don't work and wipers work when they want

Hello. It seems your Ford has a faulty master switch in the door panels (for the windows), a faulty door jamb switches (for the dome light), a malfunctioning multifunction switch (for the turn signal/windshield wipers). Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

KEEP BLOWING THE FUSE AS SOON AS IT IS ENTERED IN THE FUSE BOX.

If you can pull the plug from the wiper motor and try fuse. If no change disconnect the plug to the electric windows and try fuse. Unlikly to be in dome light circut unless you have had aftermarket sterio system or other accessory fitted recently

The radio or dome lights will not work unless the windshield wipers are on

Take it to the garage and ask them to check the car's Electrical grounds. When a ground gets corroded, loose or rusty, it can play havoc with the electrical system of the car. For example, in my friends car, when you would turn the radio, and heater on, the Windshield wipers would go. I thought it was funny, but it does get annoying. But sure enough, it was a faulty ground wire.

Windshield wipers not working and dome light not working on my 1998 f150 all the fuses and relays are good and have no corrosion on the fuse box

the listed features are controlled by the GEM module it is located on the back of the fuse panel, it is a high failure rate due to water intrusion. you would need to follow some wiring diagrams to determine if this is the cause, but I suspect it to be.

If you open the door and the dome light doesn't come one then you don't have windshield wipers.

Eliminate one problem at a time. They may be tied but see if you can't fix one before the other. Check the button in the door that turns on the dome light. If the ground is faulty it won't work. It the button is in a rubber boot you may have to just push it a couple times to see if theres a short. Otherwise try to move the button to see if its loose. Loose may cause a bad ground. If you have to get to the inside of the switch you may have to remove a kick panel on that side.Check to see if these two items are maybe on the same fuse? Are you saying that when the dome doesn't work the wipers don't work?

Windshield wipers don't work

The Generic electronic Module controls the windshield wipers, this system controls all the electrical items like windows door ajar warning and so on. You need to have the GEM quick tested to determine the area to look for the fault, it is very rare for the GEM to fail, the most ccommon cause is the W/S wiper switch, and next the motor's internal contacts that switch it on, or the motor itself, get the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) tested with a scanner and then get back to me with the fault codes, if I was to guess a part it would be the wiper switch it is fairly expensive so it's better to test first then replace parts after pin-point tests of components and wiring are complete and you can be sure with little room for error what is causing the problem.
